The 7 Songs You Need for Conquering Your New Year's Resolutions
RT

So, it’s 2016, and yet again we are being granted a "fresh new start" and the prospect of a year filled with wonder and opportunity.

I know, I know. New Year’s resolutions are a little overrated, and sometimes ridiculous, but they're also a pretty nice excuse to take the time to reflect, wonder, and list our hopes for ourselves in the new year. There’s no harm in trying to make our lives cooler, after all...

So, give in to the hype. Here are seven songs to ensure you success with your resolutions in 2016.

1. "YOUTH" - Troye Sivan

“What if we say goodbye to safe and sound?”

This song just makes you want to dance your way through anything, TBH. With a very go-enjoy-the-heck-out-of-life vibe, the lyrics will make you channel your inner adventure junkie, and get you out into the world... because if anyone can get you to get out of bed, it’s Troye Sivan.

2. "Love Yourself" - Justin Bieber

“But now I know I’m better sleeping on my own.”

Is Bieber fever still a thing?
This song inspires you to let go of the baggage that kept you down in 2015. Now, it's 2016. It’s your year. And you are more than enough regardless of your past. As the title implies (and as cheesy as it sounds…), love yourself. Srsly.

3. "Fight Song" - Rachel Platten

“I’ve still got a lot of fight left in me."
Ahhhhh. This is the perfect song for dramatically rewriting yourself and getting every aspect of your life together… or for, like, going on the treadmill for 30 minutes (both acts being v impressive).

4. "Domino" - Jessie J

“I’m feeling sexy and free, like glitter’s raining on me.”
I love this song for a variety of reasons, but mostly because it’s just impossible to be sad while listening to it. Go rule the world and do the things that you were scared to do in past years. Even throw some glitter.

5. "New Romantics" - Taylor Swift

“We’re so young, but we’re on the road to ruin. We play dumb, but we know exactly what we’re doing.”

There was no way I could get through this without some Taylor. "New Romantics" is a great anthem for facing resolutions because it is so realistic that it is actually motivational. It does an amazing job at capturing how helpless, and yet beautifully exhilarating, it is to live in this generation.

6. "She Moves in Her Own Way" - The Kooks

“But you don't pull my strings ‘cause I'm a better man moving on to better things.”

OK, I have a major weakness for anything by the Kooks. This song is particularly lovely to listen to right now since it deals with being true to who you are and going in your own direction… which is so rad honestly. Go be you.

7. "Anna Sun" - Walk the Moon

“We got no money, but we got heart, we’re gonna rattle this ghost town.”

This song is so charming when you’re in a position where you feel like you literally have nothing going for you (ie: the typical in-debt-for-life college student of the twenty-first century) because then you realize that none of that matters. Life’s what you make it. So, make the little moments count.

Ah! Good luck with your resolutions, and remember— try to be happy in 2016. If you can get that, you can get anything.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
