Do you trip over your own feet? Do you spill hot drinks all over yourself and others? Do you run into doors, walls, and people? Do your friends regularly describe you as awkward and ungraceful? Do people run for the hills when you're looking for a dance partner? If you answered yes to any of these, you're probably a clumsy person! Here are some other truths clumsy people can identify with:
1. You're covered in bruises, bumps, scratches, and scrapes.
And most of the time you have no clue when, where, or how you got them, but you were probably having fun.
2. You avoid activities that require coordination.
Ice-skating? Hmm, better not. Children, sharp objects, and ice are a dangerous combination even for someone who isn't clumsy. Dancing? Sure, if you don't mind being stomped on, bowled over, or elbowed in the face. Anything with a ball? Play at your own risk.
3. You've fallen down the stairs on numerous occasions.
And you've likely tripped walking up the stairs, too. Usually in front of a crowd of your peers. Way to make new friends!
4. Your friends watch you like a hawk when you've been drinking.
When you're this clumsy sober, inebriation just exacerbates your lack of grace. They all know to keep an eye on you because, chances are, you'll be hitting the ground sooner rather than later.
5. You're a danger to yourself and others in any footwear that isn't flat.
Heels are a style the clumsy person avoids at all costs. If she can trip over her own feet when she's barefoot, imagine the damage she could cause teetering atop a pair of spikes.
6. You've broken more than your fair share of fragile objects.
Your mom probably doesn't let you put away the wine glasses anymore (I only broke two!), and there is no way you are standing unsupervised next to the china closet. And every Christmas, you probably smash an ornament or five. Antiques and valuable family heirlooms beware -- the clumsy person is your biggest enemy.
7. You're a master at laughing at yourself.
You're probably the one laughing the hardest after you bang into the door frame for the third time this week. Because you're always getting yourself into these situations, you're an expert at finding humor in the pain.
It takes real skill to manage this degree of awkwardness with style, but the clumsy person is always ready to look on the bright side. Although you should probably come equipped with a warning label, your clumsiness is what makes you unique! Who else could trip over their own feet on a daily basis and still think it's hilarious?
