Television has become such an essential apart of life. Many people become so obsessed with their favorite shows because they allow them to escape their daily lives. Favorite characters become friends, love interests become your own and plot twists become personal tragedies. Here are a few shocking deaths that left fandoms, not just in the U.S. but around the world, in mourning.

1. Francis

Toby Regbo starred as King Francis in the popular CW show, Reign. His death in the beginning of the show, along with the deaths and exits of most of the main cast, marked the beginning of the end for this historical fantasy show. Reign ended only one season after death. *Note to self: Don't kill off the main love interest, most of the original cast and ships.

2. Marissa Cooper

Back in the day of the early days 2000s, killing off main characters was not common. When it did happen writers would find some magical way to bring them back to dissuade the backlash they had received. This was not the case in The O.C. Marissa Cooper's death hit viewers hard and many are still upset that Ryan, her boyfriend, ended up alone.

3. Wes Gibbins

Wes Gibbins died leaving his pregnant girlfriend to discover that her father is the one that got him killed. What is really unsettling about his death is that not only was he the main character, he was the first character to appear on screen. The whole story started with him. How is the Keating 5 the Keating 5 with only four people?

4. Ned Stark

Game of Thrones is notorious for killing off main characters whenever they get bored, but Ned Stark's death was special. Not only was he the first main character to die, but he was killed off in the first season. His death set up GoT's reputation. They can kill off whoever they want, and you'll still keep watching.

5. Slexie

Yes, I realize this is a couple, but Shonda Rhimes did not only kill TWO characters, she killed the most loved ship that existed in Grey's Anatomy history. Her reasoning behind Mark's death (Lexie died first) was because he couldn't live without Lexie. Excuse me while I go cry my eyes out.

6. Derek Shepherd

Derek's death probably caused many of Grey's viewers to stop watching. After all, he was out McDreamy for 11 seasons. No one could've ever seen that coming and many have not gotten over his death,

7. Stefan Salvatore

Stefan Salvatore's death is probably the freshest wound to many viewers. I can not say this enough times: his character deserved better. He was robbed of his human life, his best friend was killed, he lost the epic love of his life to his brother and he died shortly after got married. I have no words.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
