A pop icon across the world, Taylor Swift has certainly proven that she can make incredible music. But it is not only her music, it is also her personality which makes her millions of fans adore her. So in honor of her recent 26th birthday, here are a few reasons why we love Taylor Swift.
1. She’s helped you through at least one breakup
Everybody has had at least one breakup that felt like it would never end and you would never get over it. Enter Taylor Swift. A few days crying to “Teardrops on My Guitar” and another few seething in anger while listening to “Picture to Burn” is enough to cure any breakup. Like a true best friend, Taylor Swift was always there to help you grieve when you needed it, but also encouraged you to get back up, put on some red lipstick and make him regret it.
2. Her ambition
Taylor has mentioned that ever since she was young, she wanted to be a singer and that when she was little, she would go up to strangers at the beach and sing to them. Now, at 26, she has four albums, seven Grammys, one Emmy, 19 American Music Awards, 25 Teen Choice Awards, 22 Billboard Music Awards...and numerous other ones. She has sold over 40 million albums and is one of the most recognizable faces in entertainment. Whatever field you strive for success in, Taylor is an inspiration to everyone.
3. She loves cats
Anyone who has followed Taylor on social media for even a few days will know how much she loves her cats, Meredith and Olivia. Her constant posts about their lives make us feel as though we are her close friends, and know them personally. Not to mention the fact that they are quite possibly the cutest things in the world and seeing a picture of them is enough to brighten our entire week.
4. She isn’t afraid to show off her dance moves
While Taylor always has amazing choreography during concerts, there are plenty of videos out in the world that prove this is not a natural ability. But hey, we don’t judge! We all dance like that in front of our friends, and it only makes things more fun. Not being afraid to look stupid is something we should be better at, and Taylor is always willing to show us how it’s done.
5. Her confidence
From dating, to a switch in genre, to her numerous haircuts, Taylor has proven that she truly is the definition of fearless. She will do what makes her happy, regardless of what others think. Despite being made fun of for her “long list of ex-lovers,” Taylor ignores the negativity and continues to prove that she is living her life for herself, not to please others.
6. Her generosity
With all of that fame and money, it would be easy for someone to become wrapped up in it all. Taylor has managed to escape this and has instead proven to be a very generous and kind person, especially to her fans. She recently donated $50,000 to a young fan diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia. Every holiday season she also gives back to fans, during what she calls “Swiftmas.” This consists of her purchasing gifts for random fans she finds on Twitter, after searching to find what they want.
7. She is a role model for people of all ages
The spotlight that is Hollywood began to shine on Taylor when she was just 15 years old, meaning she has made it over 10 years without any earth-shattering scandals. Unlike others, Taylor has never leaked any “private photos,” flashed anyone at an awards show, or partaken in any behavior which could be deemed inappropriate. She is confident. ambitious, generous, and always poised. In a time where celebrity scandals are happening left and right, Taylor is a someone that any man, woman, or child can look up to.
