It's not that I don't like listening to pop, rap, R&B, or rock because I do, but country music is, and always will be, my first music genre of choice. There's no other stations I'd rather have blaring while on a road trip, and there's no other music genre that understands me like country does. Country music is hands down the best genre of music there is, and here are a few reasons why.
1. Country music isn't offensive.
When country songs mention women, it's in a respectful way. They don't use any vulgar, offensive terms to describe men or women like rappers and R&B artists do.
2. There's a country song for every situation in life.
Going through a breakup? There's a song for that. Met someone new you really like? There's a song for that. Been in love for four years? There's a song for that. Someone you know pass away? There's a song for that. Just want to drink and have fun? There's a song for that. I think you get the point.
3. Country singers are the most attractive singers in the entire music industry.
I'm sure some people are attracted to the skinny, overly tattooed, grilled-out rapper guys, but not me. I like country singer's scruffy beards and arm muscles much more (and their butts in jeans too). Plus, even though the Kardashian's fake-lips and big butts are intriguing, I'm sure most of you guys out there like down to earth, natural looking, gorgeous women country singers way more.
4. Country songs are pure and relatable.
Most country songs are talking about real-life situations that happen to all of us, so you can't help but think about and relive some of your best and worst experiences while you're listening. I always feel at peace with myself and my life after listening to country music -- it's a feeling you really can't describe.
5. Country music goes best with great weather and good friends.
When it's 75 degrees on a Saturday and you're hanging out with all of your closest friends, does anyone ever say, "Let's listen to Iggy Azalea!" No, of course not. This is because country music + sunshine + friends + (occasionally alcohol) = the recipe for a perfect day.
6. Country concerts are the best concerts to go to.
I have met some of the nicest people at country concerts, and have made some of the best memories at them, too. Country singers are always super interactive with the crowd and never show up late or leave early for silly reasons. You can tell that country singers care about their fans, and it shows in their concert performances.
7. Country songs are the best songs to sing along to.
The singers' voices aren't overly auto-tuned, if they're auto-tuned at all. The beats in country songs are easy to dance to, and the lyrics are not only easy to remember, but also so relatable that you can't help but belt them out. Whether you're singing along to a country song with your friend, sibling, boyfriend, girlfriend, parent, or whoever, you're guaranteed to make memories while you do.
