We’ve all heard of Golden Retrievers, Chocolate Labs, Pugs, Collies and lots of other four-legged furry friends. I’ve had the privilege of growing up with a less common dog breed. Actually, I grew up with two of them, and I can’t express how great of dogs Brittany Spaniels are. Here are seven reasons why Brittany Spaniels are incredible dogs to have a part of your family, and in your life.
1. They’re extremely friendly.
They’ll run up to the door and greet you 10/10 times. No matter what kind of mood you’re in they’ll be there to cheer you up. They’re even kind to strangers and gentle with kids.
2. They're very athletic.
Whether you want to go on a run or just play fetch in the dog park they’ll be more than happy to do that

3. They have a long life span.
I’ve had two Brittany Spaniels; one lived to the age of 15, the other is 12 and acts like he’s 3. It is proven though that their average lifespan is 14-15 years old.
4. They can be used as hunting dogs.
They are actually bred as pointers. They’re bird dogs. If you’re a hunter, they’re great dogs for you. They’re just also good at all of the other family-dog stuff.
5. They're the best cuddlers out there.
Even though they’re medium-sized dogs they definitely think that they’re lap dogs. You can cuddle with them anytime, they like to curl up into a little ball which makes cuddling anywhere possible. They are such lovers, and who seriously doesn't love to cuddle? Everyone loves to cuddle, even Brittany Spaniels.
6. They get along with other pets.
If you have other dogs, or even cats, they’re more than likely to live peacefully with them. I have two cats and zero problems with my pets, I even had rabbits at one point, and my two Brittanys had no problems with them, they were just curious about who else was in the house.
7. They're adorable.
Most of the time, Brittany Spaniels are a liver/chestnut color, sometimes coming in different varieties, but their snouts and legs are covered in freckles and they have a soft coat with an irresistible face.
So if you're looking for a good family dog, a good dog to give you company, and a dog who is extremely patient, loving, and kind, then the Brittany Spaniel dog breed is an incredible fit for you.
