7 Things You Learn From The New Member Class

When you rush a sorority, you get very close with your sisters. Besides your Big Sister, your new member sisters will become your best friends. You will go through the whole new member process with your new member sisters and you will not just learn about your sorority, you will also learn life lessons from them.

1. Be bad and boujee.

Tori Crowley

Always look your best, you never know who you are going to see. Do a hair flip, walk out the door, be bad and boujee. Do not care about other people, just do you, boo.

2. Pause and take time for yourself.

Tori Crowley

Go shopping, go spend some money in Michael Kors or Pink, for yourself. You are the most important person and need to take care of yourself first.

3. Go do some yoga and focus on you.

Tori Crowley

If shopping isn't enough to help yourself, relax. Do some breathing and try yoga. Your life might not be flexible but maybe working on your flexibility with some yoga would help!

4. Don’t sweat the small stuff.

Tori Crowley

Stuff happens. If something is bothering you, don’t let it get to you. Life happens and you get tossed lemons all the time, but just move on.

5. Don’t care what people think about you.

Tori Crowley

Are you living someone else’s life? No. You are living YOUR life. Do not live your life to impress others, say whatever is on your mind and just life carefree.

6. Disney can solve any problem that you have.

Tori Crowley

Any bad day can be solved by watching a Disney movie in bed. If you want to go for a drive, blast some Disney music and everything will be better.

7. Go out and be crazy.

Tori Crowley

#YOLO. Why even care about life? Just be your crazy self. This is your only life so do what makes you happy.

Your new member class will be the best thing to ever happen to you. If you are lucky to have a small new member class, you should really embrace that gift. Even though you may feel that you are all completely different, you will learn to love that and each other. The best part is if you all like different things, you can learn about what your sisters like and maybe you will end up to like those things too.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
