7 Must Read Books This Summer

For me, summer is the best time to catch up on a long lost hobby of mine during the school year: reading! Between studying for tests and doing homework, the last thing I want to do is pick up another book. But during these gloriously free couple of months, I can read what I want, when I want, and to my heart’s content. Sometimes, however, I need some inspo for what to read next. I love reading TBR (to be read) lists from others, so I decided to compile a list of a handful of books that you should definitely make time to read this summer.

1. "Into The Water" by Paula Hawkins

If you liked “The Girl on the Train,” then I would suggest giving this novel a try! This book is a typical Paula Hawkins creation: suspenseful and thought provoking. With each chapter, you’re unraveling the truth behind two shocking deaths, a single mother and a young teenage girl. I just picked this book up at the store, and I can’t wait to start it!

2. "The Summer I Turned Pretty" Trilogy by Jenny Han

This is HANDS DOWN my favorite summer series ever. For a girl that doesn’t like to read books twice, I found myself skimming over the books again because they’re just that good. TSITP trilogy follows the life of a girl and her relationship with two brothers. Their families have been friends ever since she could remember. But as they all get older, everything starts to change… Overall, these books are so easy to read, perfect for the beach, and will give you all the feels.

3. "Windfall" by Jennifer E. Smith

I’m currently reading this ATM, and I’m loving it! I previously read Jennifer E. Smith’s book, “The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight,” and I really enjoyed it as well. “Windfall” is a story about a boy and a girl who have been friends for years. Despite some tragic misfortunes on both ends, everything changes when one of them wins the lottery. I’m super excited to finish this one!!

4. "The Beginning of Everything" by Robyn Schneider

I actually just finished this book, after wanting to read it for what feels like years. “The Beginning of Everything” is a witty and surprisingly real story about a once popular boy, turned outcast after an unfortunate car crash. But once he meets the new girl at school, he starts to really find out who he truly is. This book was really easy and enjoyable to read! It’s once of those books that makes you think about your own life once you finish it.

5. "From What I Remember" by Stacy Kramer & Valerie Thomas

“From What I Remember” is probably one of my top favorite books of all time. The structure of the book, starting each chapter with fun movie quotes, is so unique and brilliantly ties together the different plot points of the story. When reading this book, readers follow the lives of multiple different high school seniors that somehow ended up in Mexico right before graduation. As the students race back to their diplomas, they learn some things about each other along the way. I highly, highly recommend this book!

6. "Luckiest Girl Alive" by Jessica Knoll

This book isn’t my typical reading style, but I loved it regardless. I was first drawn to the book because the author, Jessica Knoll, has been a senior editor at Cosmopolitan. Knoll’s writing doesn’t disappoint, and there are twists that you won’t see coming! Although dark at times, this rags to riches story is definitely worth reading.

7. "The Unexpected Everything" by Morgan Matson

I’m a big fan of books written by Morgan Matson. I really liked “The Unexpected Everything, and I also enjoyed reading one of her other novels, “Since You’ve Been Gone.” I found this book really relatable and easy to read. The main character is a young girl who is dealing with changing plans due to her father’s political scandal. She finds herself working a job, meeting new people, and embracing what life throws at her.

Happy Reading!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
