7 Lush Products I Cannot Live Without
We Are Motto

So, assuming you clicked on this article because you are familiar with Lush Cosmetics, but for those of you who haven't quite gotten the memo, I'll fill you in now because I don't want you missing out any longer. Lush Cosmetics is a vegan cosmetic brand that uses all natural products to soften your skin, keep you smelling incredible, bring shine and moisture to your hair and so much more. Their line offers many products ranging from organic shampoo bars, exfoliating face washes, lotions and the world-famous bath bombs.

The brand prides itself on being all natural, vegan, against animal testing and containing ingredients of the highest quality (a majority of them being fruits and vegetables with no preservatives, as well as essential oils). Many of us forget that our skin is the largest organ in (well, outside of) our bodies. Our skin absorbs the things we put on it, so often times, the regular drugstore lotions and perfumes are packed with chemicals, parabens and things you wouldn't dare think to put in your body. These things actually end up inside of us anyways, because, like I said, our skin absorbs it. This is the simplest reason (along with the fact that they are natural, vegan and cruelty free as mentioned above) why I love using Lush products. So for all of you Lush newbies, I've compiled a list for you of my seven favorite Lush products that I wouldn't survive without. And no, this isn't a sponsored article. I am truly, genuinely in love with these products.

1. Shampoo Bars

Lush has a line of solid shampoo bars that are simple to use and last for months. You simply wet your hair, wet the shampoo bar, and scrub away at your luscious locks with the solid shampoo. You don't need much, because very little will have your hair feeling clean as a whistle, and smelling groovy. My personal favorites are the Godiva bar and Seanik.

"Godiva" ($11.95)

The Godiva bar is actually a two-in-one bar that cleans as a shampoo, but also is packed full of conditioning oils, but won't leave your hair greasy. Some of the main ingredients in this bar include shea butter and coconut oil to soften and moisturize. The kicker? It's chock full of some of my favorite spring scents. Jasmine extract, dried jasmine, hibiscus extract, and gardenia extract all leave your hair smelling like a fresh bouquet and leave you feeling like a true flower child. Got curls? This is the bar for you. It softens and tames my curls better than any other shampoo I've ever used. It keeps them light and bouncy, loose and brings out my natural texture.

"Seanik" ($11.95)

Seanik is a mineral-rich volumizing shampoo bar that is made from natural ingredients found in, you guessed it, the sea! Packed with Irish moss seaweed, Japanese nori seaweed and sea salt, you hair will be light and tousled with shine coming from the hint of lemon oil found in this exotic bar. Now, I'm a jasmine girl, so the hint of jasmine is what had me hooked on this one. Again, this bar is a great one for anyone who has unmanageable curls and lots of texture. This is a more subtle scent as opposed to Godiva but equally as lovable.

2. Face Wash

Lush has a large variety of facial scrubs for any and every skin type out there. I'm going to touch on two specific ones, Let The Good Times Roll and Ocean Salt, that have provided me with a happy, healthy complexion that I was unable to achieve even with the highest quality prescription medications, Proactive, and drugstore facial cleansers.

"Let The Good Times Roll" ($12.95-$31.95)

Before I begin on this incredible product, let me explain a little about my struggle with my complexion. I have mostly combination skin. It tends to be drier on my nose and forehead, but more oily near my hairline, and I tend to break out on my chin and jawline no matter how often I was my skin. I've always preferred a more "squeaky clean" feeling post wash, and I need a gentle exfoliating factor in my face wash. Let The Good Times Roll is my everyday cleanser. It is gentle on the skin, it rids your face of dead skin, and leaves you feeling extra clean post-wash without any dryness. The plus on this product? It smells absolutely amazing. Maize flour, cornmeal and cinnamon act as the exfoliants, giving it a buttery-caramel scent that isn't overpowering. In fact, this combination of ingredients helps give you a healthy, hydrated glow. Simple break off a piece from this play-doh like ball, wet in your palm, and apply to your face. It's that simple!

"Ocean Salt" ($21.95-$36.95)

Take a moment and close your eyes. Imagine yourself on a beach in Mexico, sun shining, salty hair, margarita in hand. Well that's where this facial exfoliant takes you. When I first tried this face wash, I was nervous about the natural ocean salt drying my face out too much, but the fresh avocado and coconut help balance out my skin. The hint of lime and vodka allow you to feel this cleanser taking care of your current blemishes and preventing new ones from popping up. I use this exfoliant a few times a week to really clear out my pores, and anytime I break out. I simply steam my face, scoop a small amount and spread it on my problem areas. I generally rub in a circular motion to get deep down in my pores and remove all the dead skin on the surface, then I leave it on for about 5-10 minutes while I clean my hair or shave. Keep this product far enough away from your eyes. We all know the slight burn of ocean salt in the eyes, but I'm telling you, ocean salt and vodka BOTH in the eyes at the same time isn't something you'll want to experience. Because this is a harsher scrub, I wouldn't recommend using this everyday right off the bat. Your skin will need to get used to the large salt crystals, but I can promise you, this stuff works.

3. "Grease Lightning" Spot Treatment ($14.95)

Who doesn't have a blemish or two every once in awhile? That's why I personally feel like everyone should own Grease Lightning by Lush. It's a simple, light, soft gel that sucks up dirt from your pores like a vacuum. I wouldn't lie; stick this stuff on before bed and you'll wake up in the morning forgetting you ever had an issue the night before. Tea tree oil, witch hazel, lavender, and rosemary are the main ingredients for clearing up acne spots, and aloe vera and grape juice help to heal irritation. Many acne spot treatments burn and sting, but you don't have to worry about that with Grease Lightning, AND it works better than those other guys. What more could you ask for? I'm crazy about this product. It's saved my embarrassment of unclear skin on too many occasions to count.

4. "Rub Rub Rub" Shower Scrub ($9.95)

As I mentioned before, I'm a sucker for jasmine, but I'm not the only one who's attention this exfoliating bar will capture. A sensual combination of jasmine, ocean salt, cupuacu butter, illipe butter and a splash of orange, Rub Rub Rub will have you feeling refreshed and your skin softened. I couldn't say enough good things about this solid scrub. Your skin will be soft and smooth after the shower, but it's the smell that'll really get you.

5. "R&B" Hair Treatment ($24.95)

All you curly headed girls out there, this one's for you. It took me years of experimenting to find a leave in moisturizer that I was happy with. One that didn't weigh my curls down, make them crunchy, and didn't leave my hair feeling greasy. I'm often complimented on my natural hair, and I'm usually asked what type of curler I use. I'm happy to tell them that it's Lush's R&B Hair Moisturiser that actually accentuates my natural curls and waves: no heat necessary! The organic avocado butter, extra virgin coconut oil, jojoba oil, olive oil and candelilla wax not only make this an awesome product for my hair, but it works awesome for all hair textures, including African American hair or tight curls. Not to mention it smells phenomenal with the hints of, yup, you guessed it, jasmine and orange extract once again. Use a small nickel size dollop and start by working it into the ends and upwards.

6. "Dirty" Toothy Tabs ($4.95)

So toothy tabs are all the new rage among the Lush regular customers. They are a new, organic and natural alternative to regular tooth paste. They are a solid tablet that you simply pop in your mouth, bite with your front teeth, and begin scrubbing away with your toothbrush! The toothy tabs foam once they meet your wet toothbrush and work just as regular toothpaste would. Dirty is made with spearmint and baking soda to keep those pearl whites, well, pearly white. These toothy tabs will leave you grinning from ear to ear because your mouth will be feeling so clean and refreshed.

7. "Lust" Solid Perfume ($11.95)

Simply put, I cannot leave the house without my Lust solid perfume. It doesn't take much to have you smelling incredible all night long. I'll give you one guess what the main ingredient is in this delicious perfume. You got it. A warm combination of jasmine with a woody-base and rich florals leaves you smelling sexy and sultry-- that special someone in your life won't be able to resist. Seriously, see for yourself.

I'm crazy about this brand. What they stand for, and what their products have done for my skin, hair and even my teeth, has blown my mind. Give some of these a try and let me know what you think. You won't be disappointed!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
