Ditch the takeout and eat some semi-real food.

If you ever find yourself on the South Shore of Massachusetts, here are a few restaurants you should check out (in no particular order):

1. Sombrero's

My wife and I recently came back from Cancun only to find ourselves longing to go back. Coming across this restaurant a week later definitely helped ease the pain. The atmosphere and food are borderline authentic; this is no Taco Bell (..nor is it fast food). Stiff margaritas and a plethora of delicious Mexican dishes will have you ready to bust out the maracas and sombreros in no time. The only thing missing is the mariachi band.

Atmosphere: Mexican

Location: South Weymouth, MA

2. Not Your Average Joe's (Norwell)

Not Your Average Joe's is not your average chain restaurant. They're always switching up the menu with new swanky dishes. The bread is super good to start, served generously along side olive oil with parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper. The chicken enchiladas and the Caribbean buffalo tenders are my go-to. Throw in a pitcher of watermelon margaritas and it's a done deal. Other than MA, you can find Not Your Average Joe's in Maryland, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Virginia.

Atmosphere: Swanky

Location: Norwell, MA

3. 42° North

Looking for some excellent fine dining without burning a monstrous hole in your pocket? (Although you still could if you wanted to) this is the place for you. Top of the line seafood, a beautiful dining room, and a welcoming bar- if you're trying to impress someone, this is the place you want to go.

Atmosphere: Casual Fine-Dining

Location: Plymouth, MA

4. East Bay Grille

Also located in Plymouth, East Bay Grille is a step up from 42° North on the fancy-scale. While I'm not sure if it's enforced, there is a dress code on the website. So if you do decide to go there, make sure you check that first. The few times my wife and I have been there we were celebrating, so we were already dressed the part. Set on Plymouth's historic waterfront, the atmosphere is invigorating- inside and out. Plymouth Rock is right down the street (literally take a left out the the parking lot and drive for two minutes), along with the rest of Plymouth Memorial State Park.

Atmosphere: Business Casual

Location: Plymouth, MA

Website: http://eastbaygrille.com/

5. Lobster Hut

Feeling a little groggy? Got the munchies? If you're not up for dressing to the nines but still want that beautiful Plymouth waterfront atmosphere, exit Easy Bay Grille immediately, walk like 50 yards southeast of the building and you'll end up at the Lobster Hut. This quaint little shack serves up super good fried seafood for a reasonable price and offers outdoor seating closer to the harbor than East Bay Grille. Just beware- don't feed the birds (we do anyway).

Atmosphere: Casual/Seafood

Location: Plymouth, MA

Website: http://www.lobsterhutplymouth.com/

6. The Fours (Norwell)

My sister introduced me to this place a few weeks ago. It's a sports bar on the higher-end and I love it. If you want to catch the game out over a few brews with some good friends, or if you just want a bomb burger, check this place out. We had a great time and I'll definitely be going back soon. They also have locations in Boston and Quincy.

Atmosphere: Upscale Sports Bar

Location: Norwell, MA

7. Cask 'N Flagon

The sister-site of the historic Fenway Park Cask 'N Flagon (Fenway Pahk if you're from the Boston area) this place is no joke. Located in Marshfield, I was here for the majority of the 2013 World Series and the place was BUMPIN' every game night. I've been to actual sporting events that couldn't match the liveliness of the restaurant, literally. So if you're looking to hang with a rowdier crew than you would find at The Fours, if you want to scream at 135 High Definition TVs and feel perfectly normal about it, my friend, this is the place for you. Try the BBQ tenders or a massive plate of nachos with copious amounts of cheese. You'll thank me later.

Atmosphere: Sports Bar

Seven Tasty Coffee Drinks Without The Coffee Taste

I'm pretty sure my body is 90% coffee and soon, yours will be too.

Though I don’t understand it, there are a lot of people who don’t like coffee. Many people still want to have the coffee to wake them up, learn to like coffee, or want to hop on the bandwagon of enjoying a coffee treat from Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts, or Wawa (the overall best). So, here’s a list of seven drinks that include coffee, but don’t taste like it, to help you transition from a non-coffee drinker to an active one.

1. Coolattas from Dunkin Donuts

A Coolatta is basically a frozen flavored drink. Most of them contain coffee, so getting that boost of caffeine without the coffee taste is easy with this treat. It comes in caramel, vanilla bean, mocha, Oreo, and more.

2. Any kind of Mocha Coffee (or caffe mocha)

A mocha coffee tastes like subtly coffee flavored hot chocolate. One of my favorite mocha drinks around the holidays is a peppermint mocha, because it tastes like a chocolate dipped candy cane, which is perfect to get anyone (even a Jewish girl like me) into the Christmas spirit. If you like hot chocolate, a mocha is a good way to transition into drinking regular coffee.

3. Vanilla Latte

A vanilla latte is one of my personal favorites. They can come hot or iced, and though they contain a good amount of coffee, it tastes like you dipped a sugar cookie into coffee.

4. Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha

After going to Starbucks with a friend, she forced me to try this when she ordered it, and it was fabulous. She described it to me as a drink for people who don’t like rich chocolate. It’s a really creamy drink that tastes kind of like white hot chocolate.

5.Starbucks Frappuccino

Don’t even get me started on Frapps. The amount of flavors they have is amazing, and it’s basically one of the best beverages ever. My favorite is the double chocolate chip, because you get a rich chocolate flavor with crunchy chocolate chips inside. SO good. They also have caramel, vanilla, strawberry, cinnamon, green tea, and pumpkin spice and toasted graham cracker during the fall season (just to list a few).

6. Chai Latte

A chai latte tastes like tea with milk, infused with spices. It is definitely something people either love or hate, but if you like that spiced flavor, I would recommend it.

7. Caramel Macchiato

I have never tried one of these, but people LOVE them (not to mention the drink is beautiful). In simple terms, it is steamed milk topped with foam, topped with espresso to create a luscious, caramel, layered coffee drink.

So to those crazy people out there who don't enjoy a nice cup of coffee in the morning, or a mid-day iced coffee in the summer, try these drinks and soon you'll wake up craving a cup of coffee like me.

views

There has been this controversial debate on whether Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts is the better option when it comes to getting one of the best coffees. As a lover of the White Chocolate Mocha, I can not begin to fathom how someone would be willing to go to Starbucks' competitor, Dunkin Donuts. Here are 5 reasons why you should kick Dunkin Donuts to the curb and let Starbucks into your life!

Study Spot

What better place is there to study than Starbucks! The comfy couches allow you to relax and do your homework peacefully.

The Holiday cups

During the Christmas season, Starbucks comes out with creative cups design for the most wonderful time of the year!

Frappuccinos> Coolatta

Frappuccinos definitely rule over the Coolattas that Dunkin provides.

More menu options

Starbucks provides way more coffee drinks than Dunkin. And the best part is that you can customize your own coffee/latte/tea. Anything you name, Starbucks has it.

The Lactose intolerants are certainly welcomed at Starbucks!

One of my friends is Lactose intolerant and she tells me that Starbucks has dairy-free options.

Best food quantity

Does Dunkin Donuts sell cake pops? I don't think so.

BEST Quality Coffee

Starbucks has the top quality coffees and lets be honest Dunkin Donuts coffee tastes burnt
