Welcome back to another installment of my series of tips on how to get yourself prepared as a builder in 7 Days to Die. The subject of this article on the tools which are used in 7 Days to Die. Tools play a vital role in the construction of buildings, repair, and the acquisition of resources. There are a variety of tools which their own functions and strengths.
In one sense, tools can be categorized by the type of materials, facilities, and skills needed to acquire them. For this, there are stone tools, iron tools, steel tools, and mechanical tools. Stone tools need stone and other basic resources. They can be crafted in the early moments of the game, with ease. The beginner tutorial quest of the game involves making a stone axe. Iron tools are made with forged iron as their central ingredient. As such, you need to first create a forge and process iron, in order to be able to make them. Steel tools are made with forged steel as their main ingredient. You will need to acquire the steel making perks in order to make forged steel and the tools which it produces. You will need a forge to produce the forged steel, and will need a workbench in order to craft steel tools. Mechanical tools require a schematic to know how to make them. Similar to guns, mechanical tools are made by assembling multiple component parts together.
Tools can also be categorized according their functional and stylistic aspects. With this, there are axes/logging tools, pickaxes/ mining tools, shovels, construction tools, wrench, hammers, and gardening.
Axes/ Logging Tools
The different types of Axes and the chainsaw specialize in the collection of wood. The stone axe is the first tool and first axe type tool. It is also is the first tool for mining and construction. Beyond that, you have the iron axe and steel axe. Each type is significantly better for collecting wood as its predecessor. The chainsaw is the only non-axe tool which specialized in wood collection. While axes require the use of stamina to power their wood collection, the chainsaw needs to be fueled with gas.
Pickaxes/ Mining Tools
The stone axe, iron pickaxe, steel pickaxe, and the auger specialize in mining. Each ascending level of mining tool can acquire stone can mine through rocks at a quicker rate than its predecessor. While the first three are powered by stamina, the auger needs to be fueled with gas.
Shovels
Shovels specialize in the collection of dirt and clay. There are three types of shovels; stone, iron, and steel. As with other tools, the iron is more durable and collects faster than the stone, and the steel is better than iron. Using shovels costs stamina to operate.
Construction Tools
Construction Tools Include the stone axe, the wrench, the claw hammer, and the nail gun (in order of ascending quality). These tools can be used to turn frames into completed blocks and to upgrade existing blocks. The better construction tools can build and upgrade blocks quicker. Thus, there is an interest in advancing to them. In addition, the wrench the ability to dismantle items, such as air conditioners and cars, to receive additional special items from them, such as mechanical parts, engines, electronic components, and gas. The claw hammer is also good for clearing out the plant fibers and other ground material on are area of land. As such, its useful for preparing an area for future construction. The nail gun is the fastest one for construction, although it can take some effort to acquire the parts. The best place to look for the parts are in the Working Stiff’s Tool Stores. Though if you want to acquire a mass quantity of construction tools to handle large amounts of clearing and building, then claw hammers then one may want to use claw hammers.
Other
With those sections covered the main remaining tools are the sledgehammer and the garden hoe. The sledge hammer is moderately useful for collecting rocks and other hard materials. The garden hoe is used to prepare soil for farming.
Suggestions for Collection
In order to successfully acquire resources and construct buildings, one will need a good collection of tools. Once you start processing iron in your forge, you should make an iron axe, iron pick axe, and iron shovel. Use these tools to gather resources and when they lose durability, make new ones. The more that these tools are crafter the more you will be able to craft a better quality of that tool. And by using the tools, you build up experience for skills which help to use them. Once you have a good production of steel underway, replace those tools with their steel versions. Also, once you have forged iron you can make claw hammers and wrenches. Claw Hammers made a good default construction tool. You’ll also want a wrench for collecting mechanical parts, electronic materials, and parts for making minibikes. You’ll also want a garden hoe to produce a farm. Farming can an important source of regular food and free you up to have more time to build. While one can pursue mechanical tools like the chainsaw, auger, and nail gun, I myself tend not to put much urgency into collecting them. A well-made steel axe, steel pickaxe, and claw hammer with well develop skills, perks aiding stamina, and perks aiding mining, logging, and building, can be well suitable for their tasks. While slightly slower, they can save on fuel costs. With these things stated, this the conclusion for this article.
