For those approaching the game 7 Days to Die, the building aspect of the game can be a significant aspect. Whether that be building for survival, establishing a secure fortress, or the fun of building cool structures and the creative activity of it. Though in this endeavor there are efforts to be taken, and knowing aspects of the process can aid one in their endeavors. In order to be able to engage in significant building, one is going to need to acquire and utilize a supply of various resources. This article will offer some tips on building a supply of basic resources for building.
The basic building resources for 7 Days include wood, stone, iron, clay, sand, glass, lead, animal hide, leather, and cloth. Almost every building block you will use is created with at least one of these materials or by something that is made from these materials. The construction of some things may require resources beyond these initial resources, and some building items (mainly special furniture and decorations) are acquired from traders. Though most of the construction resources tend to come from these basic materials.
Wood
The main source of wood is through chopping down trees. The initial stone axe can acquire some wood. Though you will need better tools if you want to get a lot of it. The first improved tool to seek is an iron axe. It is made with forged iron produced in the forge, and crafted. It should act as a somewhat reliable means of gathering wood until you have learned how to make steel and have produced a work bench. Once you have, you can produce a steel axe from forged steel. The steel axe tends to be more productive and durable. If you get the schematics and parts, you could also make a chainsaw. When you chop down a tree, you can often get seeds. You can use those to plant more trees. These trees require some space and take time to grow, but once they are done you get another tree. By successfully managing this process, you can set up your own timber producing area, which you could use to supply you with virtually as much wood as you want.
Stone
Initially you can get stone from picking up stray stones on the ground, and then by chopping away at above ground boulders. Though eventually you can dig underground to acquire stone. This likewise has its own progression of tools. You can produce an iron pickaxe from forged iron. One you can make forged steel, you can use it to produce a steel pickaxe. Once you acquire the schematics and parts, you could choose to produce an auger. Currently there is not a renewable source of stone, so you will need to keep expanding mines.
Iron
Iron is a central material for crafting iron blocks, forged iron and steel, nails, and many other things. It can be found by mining boulders, stone blocks, and iron veins. It can also be produced by scrapping or melting down various iron based items. The Forge is needed for the production of many iron based items. Iron, brass, lead, clay, stone, and sand, are melted down into the resource pool for a forge and are used for the production of many items and blocks.
Clay
Many recipes for items produced in the forge, including forged iron and steel, require clay as an ingredient. It is also an ingredient in flagstone, cobblestone, and adobe blocks. Clay is harvested from clay deposits in the ground. They can generally be identified on the map by a spot that looks browner that the surrounding terrain. The presence of a large number of harvestable plants, such as cotton and golden rod, often indicate that there is clay beneath them. Shovels tend to be the best tools for harvesting clay. There are stone, iron, and steel shovels. Clearing off the plants above the clay deposit, shoveling the outer outline first, and then clearing off the area layer by layer, can help to ensure an efficient extraction of all the clay.
