You might not have been born here (but you got here as soon as you could!), You live on sweet tea and Whataburger and you wouldn't have it any other way. Here are 6 ways to tell that you are now "officially" a Texan.
1. You use "y'all" in every sentence.
'You all.' Who says that? You (unknowingly) say y'all instead of you all, and you don't catch yourself. This was almost a rite of passage; considering every Texan says it at least four times in a sentence.
2. You can't imagine living without BlueBell.
HOW. HAVE. YOU. LIVED??
You now understand the blue bell hype, because it really is THAT good. You probably have a favorite flavor and you hate having to buy "generic" (anything not BlueBell) ice cream.
3. You have cowboy boots... and wear them with shorts.
You probably swore you'd never own a pair, but now you have them. You'll wear them country dancing and have worn boots with shorts MORE than once. Your other shoes seem meaningless, and you have no idea how to two-step in a pair of casual sneakers.
4. You love Country music.
Okay, You at first hated it. But it plays everywhere and you can't run from it so you find yourself actually enjoying it. You have a favorite artist and have probably bought tickets to his/her show.
5. You have explained to your friends back home that you actually DON'T ride a horse to school.
When FaceTiming old friends, you answer all their perplexing questions about Texas, but the most intriguing is the "Do you really ride a horse to school" question. For the record: no Becky, we do not.
6. Lastly, although you weren't BORN in Texas, when people ask where you're from, you reply, "Texas."
You may be from a different state, but you have learned to love everything about Texas. Texas has become home, and you have actually found yourself in love with the state; and the people living in it. Like the saying goes: you weren't born in Texas, but you got here as fast as you could.
