It's a known fact that there are plenty of binge-watchers out there. We find ourselves watching Netflix or any streaming service for hours on end, and there is definitely no shame in that.
I'll be the first to admit that some of my favorite shows are "Grey's Anatomy" and "The Vampire Diaries", but I have also taken some chances on other shows that aren't as mainstream, but they seemed interesting to me. From there, I made this list of my favorite underrated shows.
So the next time you find yourself rewatching "Gossip Girl" for the fifth time, think about checking out one of these shows that you may have never heard of!
1. "Bitten"
If you’re into werewolves or anything supernatural, this is the show for you. The main characters are a pack of werewolves that are unique because they have the only female werewolf in the world, making them a popular target for enemies. Even if that isn’t your thing, the intense plot and adorable relationships between the characters will make you not want to stop watching.
2. "New Girl"
This show is popular, but I still feel like it doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. It is so easy to watch since each episode is short, and you will definitely laugh in each episode. The show follows Jess, who lives in an apartment with all guys, so you can imagine the humor and drama that goes on each day. “New Girl” will definitely lift your spirits and make you smile.
3. "The Carrie Diaries"
“The Carrie Diaries” is definitely a show for the hopeless romantics out there. It follows Carrie Bradshaw from “Sex and the City” as a teenager in the 80s, so you can imagine how different and fun the fashion in this show is. You don’t have to have seen “Sex and the City” in order to appreciate the show, as you follow Carrie’s daily struggles with family, friends, and romance, all while trying to take on New York City. There aren’t many seasons since the show wasn’t popular enough when it first came out, but it’s worth a binge-watch session for sure.
4. "Hart of Dixie"
This lighthearted show follows Zoe Hart, a doctor from New York City who finds herself working in a tiny town in Alabama where everybody knows everybody. She struggles at first to find her place, but ends up fitting in as she meets new people and potential love interests. I haven’t finished this series yet, but every time I watch it, I don’t want to stop!
5. "90210"
This show may be the most cliché on the list, but “90210” is a remake of an older version of the show. It takes place in a high-end high school in California, and it is very representative of the mid-2000s. It is cliché in that there is all the typical high school drama, but the relationships and crazy things that happen will definitely get you hooked. The dramatics can be a bit much at times, but it’s a great show to add to your list!
6. "The Secret Circle"
This is a great show that is also in the supernatural category (a personal favorite). It is about a group of young witches who try to discover the secrets of their parents’ pasts, all while dealing with normal high school things. There is a lot of drama and twists and turns, but the show really keeps you interested, and it’s another one that makes you keep watching.
