For a lot of people, summer is a time to kick back, relax, and enjoy the time off of school. With this luxury of freedom, you often have a lot of time on your hands and if you are wondering what to do with it, you should definitely check out these 6 throwback TV shows to watch on Netflix:

1. House

The television series House aired on Fox from November 16, 2004 to May 21, 2012. Dr. Gregory House is the main character in this series and he is a medical genius. Within a few episodes, you will see that House has a great dependency on pain medication.

Even with his addiction he is still able to lead a team of diagnosticians and save the lives of his patients. House is renowned for his clashes with his diagnostic team, physicians, and his own patients. He also rejects patients who do not have an interesting illness.

While watching this series you will witness illnesses that fascinate you, and you will get absorbed with the fact that House is an amazing doctor even with a strong addiction to pain killers.

2. Weeds

The television series Weeds aired on Showtime from August 7, 2005 to September 16, 2012. Nancy Botwin is the main character in this series, who is a widowed mother. Nancy comes from a wealthy family and her husband passes away due to a heart attack.

Once on her own, Nancy has to find a way to support herself and her two sons. Rather than getting a full-time job, Nancy decides to sell weed to make a living. This television series is centered around the tumultuous life journey with Nancy and her two sons.

You will become enthralled with her making a name of herself in the drug industry and the drug dealers that she becomes involved with throughout her journey.

3. Breaking Bad

The television series Breaking Bad aired on AMC from January 20, 2008 to September 29, 2013. The main character in this series is Walter White, who is a high school chemistry teacher.

Walter becomes diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer, and needs to find a way to secure his family's finances before he dies. Walter sees a former student of his, Jesse Pinkman and decides to start a drug empire with him.

They begin to produce and sell crystallized methamphetamine. Walter's brother-in-law is an officer of the DEA and begins to hear about an emerging drug chain.

Little does he know that Walter is the head of this drug chain. It will amaze you to see how focused and precise Walter is when it comes to making crystal meth and the person that he truly is behind closed doors.

4. That 70's Show

The television series That 70's Show aired on Fox from August 23,1998 to May 18, 2006. This TV show is centered upon a group of teenage friends living in Point Pleasant, Wisconsin. Eric Forman is the main character and the series often takes place in Forman's basement.

This sitcom shows the lives of teenagers as they go through high school and decide what their lives will be after graduating. The characters frequently form what they call "the circle" where everybody sits in a circle smoking marijuana and talking about their lives.

You see each character date each other and hate each other, but throughout the series, they all stay the best of friends. The show will remind you of all the fun times you had in high school and the stupid things you and your friends have done in the past.

5. Friends

The television series Friends aired on NBC from September 22, 1994 to May 6, 2006. This series involves a group of friends that are twenty to thirty years old and living in Manhattan.

There are six main characters in the show: Monica, Rachel, Ross, Joey, Chandler, and Phoebe. The series begins with Monica and Rachel seeing each other in a coffee shop after not seeing each other since high school.

Monica learns that Rachel had just fled from her wedding day and had nowhere to go. Rachel and Monica become roommates, and the story starts from there.

Each one of the six characters have romantic adventures and career problems. Over time, the friends date one another and one marriage arrises from the friend group. This series will tempt you to move to New York City and find a knit group of friends.

6. Client List

The television series Client List aired on Lifetime from April 8, 2012 to November 1, 2013. The series is about a recently divorced young mother who is financial need.

To help herself financially, Riley Parks starts to work at a massage parlor that offers a little more than just massages. She is hesitant to do more than she had wanted, but realizes this is how she will get food on the table for her children. You will watch as Riley not only has to hide what she does for a living, but also hide from going to jail.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
