Now that finals are over and we've managed to survive another semester, we have to figure out what to do with ourselves for the next four weeks or so. For some, this can be surprisingly difficult, while others relish the opportunity to sit around and do absolutely nothingĀ but stuff their faces, drink hot cocoa, and watch Netflix for several days straight.Ā
Sooner or later, you'll want to get off your butt and do something with your life again. When that moment comes, here are some things that you can keep in mind.
1. Celebrate the holidays!
This one is obvious, and probably the first thing that comes to our minds when we think about winter break. Nevertheless, it's important! The holidays are a time many of us look forward to all year. People come in from out of town, or we travel to see family. Either way, step back and take some time to enjoy those rare moments with people you may not get to see all that often ā and do something FUN with them!
2. Do you wanna build a snowman?
During finals week, all of us are cooped up in our building (or dungeon) of choice surrounded by a tornado of papers, a laptop, and if we're lucky, a window that we stare longingly out of. Well, over break you're finally free! Go ice-skating, running, or snowboarding! Everything that you want to do during the semester but you don't feel like you have time for, you now probably do.
3. Read a full-length novel.
I know we all go through the week-long post-finals phase where we swear we'll never be able to look at another textbook again, but it's important to rejuvenate your brain with some new material. Once upon a time, I'm sure many of us enjoyed reading. So take this opportunity to get back into it for fun.
4. WorkĀ out.
If you've been slacking because of school, now is the time to get back on that workout grind. It's almost a new year, so set some new goals for yourselfĀ or get back on track so that you can start a new semester in good condition.
5. Watch about 20Ā movies.
Over the course of the semester, a ton of new movies are released that we don't always get out to see in theaters. Make sure you do that a couple times over break, and bring some friends or family members with you to share the popcorn!
6. Take a mini roadĀ trip.
After the holidays are over, there are about two weeks in January that none of us know what to do with. If you aren't traveling over the holidays, consider going for a short road trip! It will get you out of the same setting for aĀ while, and make you feel like you went on a mini adventure while you had the chance!
With these things in mind, I hope you all enjoy your winter breakĀ and that you make the most of it while you can! Before we know it, we'll be back for another semester.
