It's never as fun as we think it'll be

The 6 Stages Of Being Home From College

As college students, we all usually go through the same stages when we come home from college. Whether it's coming home for Thanksgiving break or for summer, it always starts out with pure excitement... but that excitement quickly diminishes. We never truly realize how much we actually like school until we're sitting in bed bored rather than at a daylong with our friends. These are the 6 stages most college students go through when they're home:

1. Excitement

The day you get home from school there's nothing but happiness and excitement. You get to see your family, friends, and most importantly, your dog. Home cooked meals, your own room, and a shower you don't have to wear flip flops in; what more could you ask for?

2. Relaxation

Now that you're back home and settled in, it's time to recover from finals. So, for the first few days you do almost nothing except sleep, lay on the couch, snuggle with your dog, and watch a whole series on Netflix in 2 days. Oh, and also eat almost anything in sight.

3. Meeting Up With Old Friends

After you've caught back up on sleep, it's time to see your friends. It's been months since you've last seen them and you miss them. You all get together, catch up, and hang out, just like it used to be.

4. Realizing You Don't Have The Same Freedom As You Do At School

Being home with your parents is fun, until you realize that they can now actually figure out what you're doing and where you go. We're no longer at school and free to do whatever we want without our parents finding out.

5. Boredom

After a few days home, you start to get unbelievably bored. This is when you reminisce on your last semester and think about what you'd be doing in that moment if you were at school with your friends.

6. Counting Down The Days

Now that you've done everything you wanted to do at home, you're more than ready to go back to school. You count how many days you have left, and try to think of things that can help you stay occupied during your free time.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
