We all know how hard it is to come across quality music these days. Some might say that all music is starting to sound the same. I love listening to music and venturing out to find new music that I haven’t heard before. My friends get tired of riding in the car with me because I always have a “new” song for them to listen to. I don’t have a favorite style of music. I just like good music. Not to sound like a hipster, but most of the music that I listen to most people haven’t heard of before. I don’t listen to a lot of mainstream music. Here are six songs that you probably haven’t heard, but you definitely should look them up.
Needle and Thread By: Alice Englert
“Needle and Thread” is a song Alice did for the movie Beautiful Creatures. This song is absolutely beautiful. It is a very soft song. There is no boisterous overbearing instruments and back beats in this song just a guitar and Alice’s beautiful voice. This song is driven by heart. Every word that Alice sings is like a wave of emotion. This is the type of song you listen to when you are alone in your room and deep in your feelings. It is an amazing song by and amazing artist and I hope to hear more of her.
Jaywalk By: Brayton Bowman
“Jaywalk” is a fun song. This song is about taking a chance and moving on with life. He encourages listeners that you cannot always wait to be okay and sometimes you have to jaywalk. The song has a really cool beat that matches well with Brayton’s voice which is pure magic. His voice is so smooth and rich. This is the song that will have you bobbing your head and tapping your feet. A great song to vibe to.
If I Loved You By: Delta Rae
“If I Loved You” is a single from Delta Rae’s first album Carry the Fire. This is the greatest breakup song in history. When you are in a relationship with someone and they are a great person, but you just don’t love them. This is your go to song. This song describes how great life would be if she actually loved the guy, but ultimately she doesn’t love him. It is a hilarious song in that you can almost imagine how this would play out in real life. Also the song is sung beautifully. Delta Rae is known for powerful vocals and this song does not disappoint. A great song to use if you are looking for a way to nicely breakup with someone.
Happy Ever After By: Gin Wigmore
First and foremost if you don’t love a raspy voice you will after hearing Gin Wigmore. Before I started listening to Gin Wigmore I was not a fan of raspy voices, but she changed my mind about that. This song, in my opinion, is her best song. This song is her talking to her ex-boyfriend and the girl he cheated on her with. This song is almost therapeutic. She says what everyone wishes they could say to their ex and their new partner in the sassiest way. Every word she sings is like a knife of truth for both of them. This is the type of song everyone needs after a breakup.
My Song 5 By: Haim
“My Song 5” by Haim is the song I always blast in my car. Everything about this song is perfection from the lyrics to the beat to the singing. The sister of Haim give an astonishing performance with this song. It is a shame not many people know about this song. This song has a hard hitting beat and amazing vocals. This is the type of song that it only takes one listen to fall in love.
Never Be Mine By: Rye Rye (Feat. Robyn)
I don’t like a lot of hip hop music, but this song is one of my favorites. This song is the perfect cross between hip hop and pop music. Rye Rye is a woman with sass and attitude. She pulls no punches in this revelation of a song. The combination of Rye Rye’s rapping and Robyn’s signing this song is musical gold. It is one of those songs I play in my car constantly. A great song that you are sure to love.
