6 Signs You're A True Gryffindor

Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and of course Gryffindor! The Lions are known to be the fiercest of all. Home to some of the greatest witches and wizards of all...

"You might belong in Gryffindor,

Where dwell the brave at heart,

Their daring, nerve, and chivalry

Set Gryffindors apart...."

Where do you belong? Are you a true Gryffindor? Any of these signs may point to yes!

  1. You Enter Every Situation Head-On

Big test you didn’t study for? You don’t really dwell on it you just say “screw it” and go for it. You’re probably the one leading the pack through the haunted house and if there’s ever a challenging situation, you probably won’t stop to think you’ll just give it your all.

2. Your Morals Are Strong and Nothing Can Sway Your Beliefs

You're strong-willed. You fight for your cause no matter the consequences. Money and power never influence your decisions. If the decision is reckless or could even result in your own personal loss, it doesn’t matter as long as you fight for what you believe is right. But because you’re so determined to fight for your beliefs, you may also be blind to other’s points of views.

3. You’re a Do-er

You often find yourself getting right down to business. Others may often stop to think about how they may approach a situation or maybe try to gauge possible outcomes. Not you. If your friend is in distress about something, you may skip the consoling and go straight to the “what can I do?” or “who do I have to beat up?”

4. You’ve never backed out of a dare

If someone challenges you, your first thought is “excuse them…of course I can do that!”. It doesn’t matter if someone just dares you kiss the hottest person at the party or if someone tells you you’re not good enough for the Quidditch team…because you have the guts to do anything. Plus, you’re hella boss on the Quidditch Pitch.

5. You play by your own rules

It's not that rules don’t apply to you. It's just that rules were meant to be broken, for a worthy cause. And whether that be to help someone in need, or pull the world’s greatest prank, is irrelevant.

6. Your squad is your rock

You’ve probably had the same 1-3 best friends for a very long time. Your friends keep you sane and while they may often tame your wild schemes and shenanigans, they never tear you down or discourage you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
