6 Signs You Picked The Right College To Attend
Victoria Mysholowsky

Whether this article comes out Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, September 5, marks my first day of sophomore year at Rider and I am very happy to be back. While my summer was definitely one to remember, I am excited to be back with my friends, taking classes that pertain to my major and future career. For everyone who selected the college they believe is the "perfect fit" for them, you can back me up when I say these 6 signs are how you know you're at the school that is meant for you.

1. You are excited to go back and see your friends

My summer break was two days short of a four-month break. While that is a dream come true, summer gets to a point when you want to go back and see all your friends again and share laughs and create many more memories.

2. You are excited to take the classes you want

One of the most exhilarating things for me this school year is the chance to take the English and Education classes I want to take! This fall I begin to take creative writing classes, and in the spring I will have the opportunity to work in a classroom. I am eager to begin my teaching experience.

3. Sporting events are a blast

It's the time of year to come out and support your team, whether it's nights spent on the bleachers under the lights for soccer games, or the start of the long-awaited basketball season, LET'S GO BRONCS!

4. Events everywhere you look

The first few weeks of school have plenty of events planned to get freshmen involved, as well as upperclassman. Just to name a few Rider has Cranberry Fest, R Factor, Homecoming, and more!

5. Friday night festivities

I am a commuter, but that doesn't hinder me from participating in Friday night events, as I have dear friends who allow me to stay in their dorms so I don't have to drive home late at night. Your college experience isn't complete without having ordered food late at night.

6. Daily lunch dates on your breaks

Much like last year, my friends and I would meet up at Cranberry's, yes, that's our hot spot, have lunch, and fill each other in on our day's events. This semester, despite our conflicting schedules, we will continue to make time for each other.

Whether you're attending a big state school or a small private school, you are where you are for a reason. Embrace the friendships, learn from your professors, laugh, and make memories, while at the same time preparing yourself for the next chapter in your life!

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

Find excitement in your life and start exploring wherever you are right here, right now.

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.
