6 Shows To Watch When You Don't Have Any Friends
US News

For me, summer 2017 has been a whole lot of nothing. Hanging out with friends has been scattered so I’ve had to entertain myself a lot. Painting and reading are fun when you feel like using your brain but sometimes you just want to sit there and not think. So to fill the time I have taken to Netflix. Watching new season of shows that have recently been released or starting shows from the beginning again. For all the people out there who may be suffering in the same way as me here are some shows that will fill your time but will also be so worth your while.

If you want drama:

While both of these fall into the drama category they could not be more different. However the thing they have in common is the suspense that keeps you coming back.

Lost

I started watching this show because it is one of my roommate's favorite shows. I haven’t finished it yet but I am in the last season and I have not been able to stop watching it. However I will say that I was a little disappointed when there ended up being some supernatural things going on but it quickly grew on me and works well in the show.

Weeds

This series comes with an acquired taste because the whole show revolves around marijuana which is not everyone's cup of tea. Whereas Lost features the supernatural element, Weeds is very much set in real life situations which I tend to prefer.

If you want comedy:

I could have easily put The Office or Parks and Rec in these places but I wanted to shed some light on some less popular shows. That being said, these shows are still quite popular, but might not be shows that everyone knows about.

That 70’s Show

I practically grew up watching this show, but it wasn’t until I watched it again when I was older that I really appreciated it. I always judge shows based on whether or not I have a favorite character, not having a favorite character for me means that all of them are on the same level as one another and I’m not watching for one specific person. This is show where I can’t pick a favorite character.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

I feel like with this show, you’ll either love it or hate it. There are the rare jokes that may fly right over your head or you’ll have to take a second to think about. Besides that, each joke made hits you in spot that makes you laugh so hard you have pause the show so you can compose yourself (I’m speaking from experience).

If you don’t want to choose:

With both of these shows you are guaranteed the occasional laugh during an episode, but the cliffhangers are also filled with drama.

Jane the Virgin

While this is the more comedic of the two shows, there are episodes where you probably won’t stop crying (again, speaking from experience). It is so easy to become invested in this show because it’s so honest and pure.

Shameless

This show deals with a lot of dramatic themes such as alcoholism and mental disorders but still manages to keep a light hearted air flowing throughout it. The newest season was just put on Netflix and though I haven't watched it yet I'm sure it's just as binge-worthy as every other season.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
