Summer's here! Which means so many opportunities to have fun outdoors, whether it is going to the beach, going on vacation or spending a day at the pool. With the heat, which is sometimes overwhelming, it's necessary to have a nice, refreshing snack to make you feel cooler. Here are some of my favorite easy and refreshing summer snacks.

1. Watermelon + Feta

When I think of the perfect summer snack watermelon always comes to mind. There are so many options you have with this tasty fruit. My favorite combo by far is watermelon and feta cheese. The saltiness from the feta and sweetness from the watermelon create a perfect combination. Top it off with some mint leaves and balsamic vinegar. Makes for the perfect snack.

2. Acai bowls

When I discovered what an acai bowl was, I fell in love. Who knew something that tasty refreshing, and healthy could be so easy to make at home? Mix your favorite fruits with some almond milk and to make it even more of an Insta-worthy acai bowl, add in an Acai Smoothie pack (a good brand to buy is Sambazon). Garnish the delicious bowl with shredded coconut, drizzled honey, sliced bananas, granola, and anything else your heart desires.

3. Popsicles

They are all over any supermarket. It's the perfect snack after a hot summer's day. Popsicles are even easy to make at home with fresh fruit. Some great flavors that I recommend are strawberry, watermelon, lime, strawberry yogurt, and pineapple. Ingredients you need: fresh fruit, popsicle molds (have fun with it too!), and a liquid (whether it's juice, lemonade, yogurt, or coconut water).

4. Pasta salads

Not the most refreshing snack, but it's great if you're looking for something as a light side on your dinner plate. A great simple pasta salad usually is made with cucumber, tomato, green onions, your choice of a light dressing, parmesan cheese, and your choice of pasta. To make it even more refreshing add avocado with a hint of lemon. The possibilities are endless.

5. Lox and cream cheese cucumber bites

Seriously one of my favorite snacks of all time. This is a perfect, healthier alternative to a bagel with lox and cream cheese. It's as simple as it sounds, what you need: sliced cucumber, cream cheese and lox. These bite-sized snacks are addicting and so easy to make (and eat!).

6. Lemonade

Lemonade is my favorite drink to sip on in the summer because it is so refreshing. My go-to-favorite flavored lemonade is raspberry. To make the lemonade as refreshing as possible, you can even make it yourself. All you need are some fresh lemons, water, sugar and another fruit if you are looking for a flavored lemonade. Lemonade packets work as well for a quicker, less refreshing alternative.

These are some of my go-to summer snacks, but the possibilities are endless. Feel free to try out these suggestions to refresh yourself on a hot summer day.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
