Many college students wake up in a hurry to get to class on time, sluggishly getting out of bed and rushing to class. This can't be the best way to start your mornings; thus, I started reading inspirational texts everyday when I wake up. Read on to see how such inspirational texts transformed my mornings!
1. They're a jump-start to my mornings!
Now I wake up early just to relax. It's a weird concept, but it has improved my mornings tremendously. Think about it! You wake up a little early, make a cup of coffee and sit back down to read. I know that sounds a bit daunting to those of you who have early classes. But nothing has helped me more than getting into a relaxed state of mind before my busy days.
2. They help me center myself.
There's a big test coming up today in your 9am class. The best way to prepare yourself is to get up and read some inspirational literature! Do not study the material again or stress about it. More studying at that point will not help you. Instead, you can center yourself around your peaceful morning and have an amazing day!
3. They allow me to make use of my reading nook.
Be honest. When you first moved to college, you had a special chair or area you were going to read or study in but never actually did. Well, I just built my "reading nook" and I am finally taking advantage of it. You can make a cozy reading nook by putting a rug against the wall and adding pillows. So DIY! I love reading in my little nook, and I bet you will too.
4. They help start the day off positively!
Sure, you could read any text in the mornings. But I think reading inspirational books has helped me more than any other. Books such as Max Lucida's "You'll Get Through This" and Dr. Mike Dow's "The Brain Fog Fix" are among my favorite for morning reads. You'll have the positive energy to get though the day if you start if off with some positivity!
5. They allow you to learn new things!
The best thing about reading is learning new things. I'm not telling you to read 7 chapters in one sitting. Reading just a few pages is more than enough. It is much easier to retain a few pages of ideas rather than a whole chapter. But do whatever works for you! College is a time of discovery and growth, so discover and grow! What better way to do this than to read?
6. They are a "light" of encouragement~
By reading inspirational texts each day, you'll start to spout out advice to those in need. I have become a way more positive person than I used to be due to my morning readings. And you can, too! Just think: what if your friend is having a down day? Grace them with a quote you remembered and you might actually be able to help them! I can't think of anything better.
Set up a reading nook, and get to it!
