Entering college as a new freshman can be challenging. You're learning to live on your own for the very first time. You start all over with making new friends. It's basically like kindergarten again. In college, you are more aware of how people act. You already survived high school which was full of drama, but now all you want are friends that are just like you, and are willing to have a good time with you. In college, keeping and making great friends is very important. You'll need a friend on nights when you get to drunk to make sure you get home safely. You'll need a friend for when you meet a boy you like from you class. You'll need a friend that will stay in on Saturday nights with you cuddling up on a futon and watching Gossip Girl. Our college friends became our friends when friends were something we needed in our life. When you meet your college soulmates, keep them close because they truly are the best. Here are some signs your college friends are the best friends for you:
1. You Talk Everyday
A very essential component to a friendship between girls is a group message. Every group of girls has had one or have taken part in one. Where else would you gossip about other girls and complain about boys while away on breaks?
2. You Never Eat Alone
Eating alone in the cafeterias can be very peaceful or awkward for some people. Lucky for you, having friends that live in the same dorm as you means you never eat alone. Sometimes they will even go back to the cafe with you, even when they already ate just so you don't have to eat by yourself. Now that is a true friend right there.
3. They Are Down For Whatever
Sometimes when you don't feel like going out, your friends will be there to watch old Disney movies and munch on popcorn. However, they also will be there to convince you to go out and get a life when you need some tough loving. All you need is a pep talk from your best friends and you are ready to take on the night.
4. They Love Jamming To Taylor Swift
Every girl has done it with no shame. Sometimes, when you all agree boys suck, you turn on sad T-Swift songs full volume and sing your lungs out. Besides, listening to sad Taylor's songs alone is nearly not as much fun.
5. Breaks Are Too Long
Breaks from school are always relaxing. It's nice to go home and see old friends and family. However, they make you miss your college friends so much more. It also makes you realize how far away you live from each other. When you leave your college dorm room and are already texting your college friends you miss them, you know they are keepers. Besides, who else will listen to "Roses" with you and drink cheap vodka on Friday nights?
6. They've Seen You At Your Worst
Everyone has a bad night where they drank too much and cried even more about relationship troubles. When this happens, that night seems extremely foggy. But that's what you friends are for, to re-connect the events of last night. Your friends are also there to assure you that they wouldn't let you make a fool of yourself.
