I've always heard that your college years were the best years of your life, and it's not that I didn't believe the people who told me this, I just hadn't experienced it yet. But want to know a little secret? They were right.
Everyone has their own reasons for why college is the best season of a young person's life, but these are my reasons.
1. The freedom
If I want to go get a burger at 2 am, I can go get a burger at 2 am. Period. End of story.
2. The responsibility
With the freedom, of course, comes the responsibility aspect of college. I am taking a few online classes that require discipline (that I am working on) to teach myself the material.
3. The classes
Granted, freshman year, I felt that I was drowning in endless Gen Ed classes, but trust me. Work through those courses, and you will be happy when you finally make it into your junior year and are able to take classes that you came to this university to study. Finally!
4. The people
This category could honestly be broken up into many parts. I mean, you have your professors, your friends, your non-friends, the list goes on. What I do have to say about the people you meet in college, is that you will learn how you want to be, and you will earn how you do not want to be.
5. The memories
You will make your own memories, both good and bad, but one thing is for certain: they make great stories!
6. The future
All of your hard work will be worth it soon when you walk across that graduation stage. The all-nighters, 8 am classes, tears, and exhaustion will be worth it. Hold onto that hope.
So, to the tired college student, make the most of these four or so years. You'll be glad you did.
