6 New Years Resolutions I Probably Won't Do, But Should

New year, new me!

Every year, people hype up the final holiday of the year, New Years. With this holiday comes new beginnings, parties, new year's kisses, and resolutions. Every year, I brainstorm a ton of resolutions and set my mind on one that I will definitely do. Some people have the motivation to complete these resolutions. Others, like me, can't last more than a few days. This year I will definitely attempt to follow through with whatever resolution I come up with, but in the case that I don't, I can always come back to this list of unfinished resolutions and try another one out. The top six resolutions I have conjured up this year include better living, getting rid of bad things, and being a better person.

1. Get rid of the toxic people in my life

We all have them. People in our lives that we can't help but hold on to. Whether they are the best thing or worst thing that ever happened to you, if they aren't good for you now, it's probably time to let go.

2. Weight train

Going to the gym is a start, but you will soon realize doing a few ab workouts and running a mile isn't going to get you that Victoria's Secret body.

3. Drink more water

This seems very simple, but it can be pretty hard to remember the simple things that are so important in life, like, drinking a substantial amount of water every day.

4. Be kinder

Whether it's saying hi to a stranger who looks a little down or surprising your friends with a little gift when they're stressed, being kind can get you very far in life.

5. Volunteer

Being busy with a full-time job or school can make it really hard to find time to help others. Whatever cause you're passionate about, this year's the year to give back.

6. Get informed

It's hard not to know what's going on with a President that has an infamous Twitter account. Yet, somehow, I don't think Trump's tweets are always that informed. This year, read scholarly articles, have informed conversations, and know what you are saying before you say it.

Hopefully, if I can't complete all of these manageable resolutions, I can at least make myself a better person by spending more time with my dog.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
