Most people spend at least 4-8 years of their life studying for school in some way, so it's not surprising that we all lose inspiration here and there. If you find yourself loosing the inspiration to study, may I recommend that you find inspiration in these characters. Also, this post contains spoilers, so you have been warned.

1. Rory Gilmore - "Gilmore Girls"

The OG study inspiration is none other than Rory Gilmore. Throughout the show, Rory studies her way through a highly competitive private school, graduating with top grades and going off to an ivy league college. Rory is seen actually studying quite a few times, which is rare for tv shows. And let's be honest here, who doesn't want to be as diligent as Rory Gilmore?

2. Lip Gallagher - "Shameless (U.S.)"

The eldest brother of the Gallagher family shows us what it means to make something out of nothing. Growing up on the South Side of Chicago could hold a lot of people back, but Lip used it as fuel to push himself forward. With almost perfect SAT scores and a fiery attitude, Lip was able to make it out of the slums and into a top college while also helping his sister raise his younger siblings.

3. Hermione Granger - Harry Potter

Another iconic study inspiration, Hermione Granger, has single-handily pushed me to be the best student I can be. Being a muggle-born and having not been exposed to magic as a child made Hermione's thirst for knowledge grow almost as big as Hogwarts itself.

4. Rachel Berry - "Glee"

Rachel Berry is introduced to the audience as a feisty high school freshmen with a full schedule: dance lessons, singing lessons, school and glee club. In college, Rachel pushes herself even further, working full time as a waitress, attending classes at the prestigious NYADA, being the lead in Funny Girl on Broadway, being in a band and still having time to go back to her high school to support the glee club. She fought tooth and nail for everything she does and everything she has and that is what makes someone a study inspiration.

5. Finn Hudson - "Glee"

While we are talking about "Glee," Finn Hudson was another study inspiration spawned by the show. At the beginning of the show he is introduced as a member of a losing football team with sub-pare grades, but as the show progresses and Finn joins the glee club he changes a little.

He helps lead the football game to a win to break their years-long losing streak, helps recruit kids to join the glee club and manages to study his butt off to bring his grades up. After graduation, he goes into the army, quickly realizing that's not for him, and goes home to coach his old glee club and work towards getting his teaching degree to change other kid's lives.

6. Elle Woods - "Legally Blonde"

Who doesn't love a headstrong women? After being told that she doesn't have what it takes to get her law degree from Harvard, Elle takes it upon herself to prove everyone wrong. Getting a 179 (an almost perfect score since the highest possible is 180) Elle proves that it is possible to break stereotypes.

So as you find yourself losing interest in analytical geometry or whatever it is that you have to study for, look to these people for inspiration. Or something to watch as you procrastinate studying, we've all been there.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
