Most often, when I take the Hogwarts and Ilvermorny tests on Pottermore, I always sense this feeling of duality. Either I’m sorted into Gryffindor and Horned Serpent (basically the Ilvermorny version of Ravenclaw), or I’m thrust into another identity crisis with Ravenclaw and Wampus (basically the Ilvermorny version of Gryffindor). Typically, I get the former: Gryffindor at Hogwarts and Horned Serpent at Ilvermorny.
Since I’m American, chances are that, if I were a witch/wizard, I would be at the Ilvermorny school in Massachusetts. That’s why I should probably give my Horned Serpent result more weight, though I feel more loyal to Gryffindor because Hogwarts is where all the magic originally began. The sorting process for each school has some key differences: Hogwarts looks at why you do things, while Ilvermorny looks at how. So, in my case, my decisions reflect what I stand for: bravery, daring, and loyalty. However, I navigate my choices analytically, using my head to search for a solution that satisfies what I value.
For these reasons, I always thought of Ravenclaw as my secondary house, Gryffindor being my primary. Witty, intelligent, creative, and tolerant -- these traits define the typical individual Ravenclaw is looking for. Ravenclaw has a home for everyone, from the passionate Cho Chang to the eccentric Luna Lovegood.
