8 Lesser-Known Emo Songs To Jam Out To This Fall
Balance and Composure

Fall is here! It's the perfect time to drive around or take a walk to watch the leaves change colors. Autumn is all about aesthetics. My fall aesthetic personally consists of emo music, flannels, and bonfires. Maybe it's just because I'm an emotional Cancer, but I think there's really no better time of year to enjoy the subtle whisper of flatsound or the melodic vocals of Basement.

Here's your Fall soundtrack for when you want to let it all out:

1. "Car Underwater" by Armor For Sleep

From the eerie beginning to the constant guitar chugging of deep power chords, this song sets the bar for emo.

2. "The Medic" by Foxing

Foxing is a 5 piece post-rock band from St. Louis with a unique melodic sound. You'll be hooked within the first ten seconds of listening, I promise.

3. "Yoke" by Basement

Guys, I seriously can't get enough of Basement! They've been one of my favorite bands for a while now. Their sound is fast-paced, a little heavy, and super fun to listen to while driving--or anytime.

4. "Void" by Balance and Composure

Void is your song if you love the slow burn of listening to a track progress and build momentum. This was the first song I ever listened to from Balance and I've been in love ever since!

5. "Don't Call Me At All" by Flatsound

Really mad at your ex-boyfriend? Maybe the girl you've got a thing for isn't calling you back and you're sad. If you want to drown in more self-pity, check out this track. Or listen while eating ice cream in a cozy blanket fort! Do it!

6. "Like A Ritual" by Title Fight

This listicle would not be complete without a recommendation from my favorite band, Title Fight. Like A Ritual is the perfect angsty track for when you can't get someone off of your mind.

7. "Never In The Cards" by Dependence

My Lord, this is probably the most emo song on this list. The lyrics sing of someone in a ton of mental anguish, accompanied by a rapid chord progression during the chorus, and compelling lead to fill in the verses and bridge.

8. "Numb, But I Still Feel It" by Title Fight

This is the 1st track from Title Fight's album Floral Green. There's a lot going on in this song, which is what makes it so appealing. It's fast-paced, Ned's vocals are screamy, and the guitar effects throw in a little psychedelic vibe--foreshadowing the sound of TF's latest project, Hyperview. If you want a crazy song to jump around to, this would be it. Just save the jumping for your room--not while you're driving.

These are just a few of my favorite angsty, emo songs that give off the perfect fall aesthetic. Check out my Spotify page for more tunes! And please, put the phone down and wear a seatbelt. Happy driving!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
