College, for the most part, is full of development, opportunity, and fun.
However, there are those times when we start to miss the high school days when life was much simpler. Here are 6 college nightmares we wish were only a dream:
1. Getting a bad roommate.
Most of us experience this freshman year, but it can definitely happen later on in your collegiate career as well. If you're lucky enough to room with someone you know previously or a close friend, this probably doesn't apply to you. However, if you can relate to this, I know how you feel.
It's not always that the roommate is leaving the place a mess or having obnoxious guests, sometimes he or she just isn't interested in connecting with you, which makes it awkward and it feels like you are living with a stranger in your own home.
2. Having to enroll in an 8 a.m.
For some of us, we don't always have the luxury of scheduling all of our classes in the late afternoon or evening. Some courses specific to certain majors are only offered in the morning, leaving us with no choice but to run on too much caffeine that semester.
3. Seeing your friends get internships while you're being denied.
There's nothing worse than having to watch all of your friends score the perfect internship while you're opening rejection letters left and right. It's hard to celebrate with others when you have nothing to celebrate yourself.
However, finding that perfect internship is definitely worth that wait. It will come when the time is right.
4. Having a bad night out.
Going out in college is supposed to be a blast, right? Usually, nights out to the bars with friends end in laughter and junk food, as expected.
However, we're all destined to have at least one of those nights when we drop the phone in the toilet, leave the debit card with the bartender (or spend everything on it), and end up lost and wandering around trying to figure out where we are and where everyone went. It's okay - it happens to the best of us.
5. Missing a final.
This may seem a little extreme, but trust me, it happens to a lot of people. Even if it's not a final, with a crazily hectic schedule, it can be easy to get overwhelmed and miss an exam or quiz. This happened to me my first semester in college, and I have not let it happen again since. A true nightmare.
6. Graduating late.
For some who want to soak up the glory days, this isn't a bad thing. But for those who have a strict plan dependent on completing college in four years, it can be extremely frustrating to learn that you overlooked that one class for your minor and will have to go an extra semester. This burns even more when you have to watch all of your friends graduate without you.
The best thing to do is accept it and enjoy the extra semester or two you have before being plummeted into the adult world.
With the good, comes the bad. College has its ups and downs; its dreams and nightmares. Just take it day by day and remember you're not alone in the struggle.
