Fall is well underway and October has almost already come and gone. If you're not one for haunted houses or gory horror movies and everyone keeps telling you that you are supposedly "too old" to go trick or treating, then binge watching some of your favorite childhood Halloween movies is the move for you! The month is almost over so you need to get straight down to the classics in order to get your Halloween fill. I did you the favor of gathering a list of some of the top movies you may have forgotten.
1. Halloweentown
I couldn't have said it better myself, Marnie. This classic features Debbie Reynolds as a witch and a town where it is always Halloween. I don't know what more you could ask of a Halloween movie. The sequel and even the threequel are still pretty good but once they replaced my girl Marnie I had to draw the line.
2. Twitches
Can you say sista, sista? When I was young, I wanted nothing more than to one day discover that I had a twin and that we both had magical powers to save the universe. I mean honestly, what a day that would be. But Twiches is as close as it gets to living that dream, so come along for the ride in this heartwarming classic you know you love.
3. The Little Vampire
I know for a fact you had forgotten about this one because I just now remembered it existed. Before he was hanging out with mice, the kid from Stuart Little was spending his time with a clan of vampires. Sorry Edward, but Rudolph was the original vampire crush.
4. Mom's Got a Date with a Vampire
With brilliant casting like Charles Shaughnessy as the evil vampire and Caroline Rhea as the mom, this was bound to be an instant classic. Although if it came down to a fight, any real-life mom could take down a vampire easily.
5. Underwraps
Another classic that probably slipped your mind about three kids who discover a 3,000-year-old mummy on the loose. The infamous line "I sleep in the nude" was the most scandalous thing 10-year-old me had ever heard.
6. Hocus Pocus
Okay, so obviously there is no way you could forget this movie. But there was also no way I could, in good conscience, leave it off the list. We are all waiting desperately for the remake but nothing can ever top the original as the ultimate Halloween movie.
Honorable mention: Don't Look Under The Bed
This movie scared me too much as a child for me to truly list it under movies for scardey cats but nevertheless is a must watch Halloween movie and probably the most unique plot of them all.
This list should give you a good start to your Halloween festivities and keep you well within your tolerance of all things scary. Happy binging and happy Halloween!
