It's that time of year again. When our pants get a little tighter and our wallets a little lighter. If you're like me and you're on a strict budget here are 6 things that your friends and family will probably want, and that you can afford, even if you're on a budget.

Starbucks Gift card

Do you know a basic white girl? Someone who is still mourning that the Pumpkin Spice Latte season (also known as fall) has once again come and gone? Or anyone who just loves Starbucks? A $5 dollar Gift card to Starbucks will definitely get someone a drink on you. Add a "Free Coffee date" coupon and not only are you paying for a drink but you're offering to spend some time with them!

Bath and Body Works

Bath and Body works is always having huge sales this time of year. You can get four large candles for under $10 if you shop smart! Or you can get body soaps, scrubs or lotions, at a very discounted price. Find out their favorite scent or fragrance, not only is that personal and nice, but it also is a gift that will last a while.

Victoria's Secret

Whether you're going in to pick out underwear for your bestie, getting them a new bralette, or just giving a gift card, no one ever says "no thank you" to new underwear. Even if it's a gift card for only $5. I personally won't say no to getting underwear that's $5 cheaper than normal. So go find out your friend's bralette size and get them that extra support they may, or may not need this season!

P.S. Victoria's Secret also has sales on body sprays during this time of year as well.

Chocolate

Do I really need to say anymore? If you gave me my favorite candy bar with a note that told me how much you loved me, I would consider that a pretty awesome Christmas gift!

Movie Basket

Go to your local dollar store, buy a basket, some of their favorite candy, popcorn and a "ticket" for either a red box or a Netflix date, for under $5! Super easy and inexpensive gift that is also very thoughtful and sweet, in more than one way.

Letter of Appreciation

And if you're really strapped for cash, write a letter. A heartfelt, well thought out letter. Telling them how much you love them, how they have impacted your life and why they're important to you. Letting people know how much you care about them, is worth way more than any gift that you could give!

While giving is the reason for the season, that doesn't mean you have to break the bank to do so! Shop smart, and being sentimental and personal is a lot more meaningful than what the price tag says.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
