Do you ever just go to a bookstore and are overwhelmed by a number of shelves that are filled with stories you have yet to read? Yet sometimes, it's so hard to find the books you really want to read because it would take such a long time to browse all the shelves one by one. However, that doesn't stop you from browsing each and every one of them.
For me, whenever I go to bookstores, I look for books that seem unusual yet interesting. I know one should never judge a book by its cover, but great covers just instantly pull you to open and read them. Mostly, what's inside is as pretty as the cover.
So, here's a list of books that you might find interesting - because I definitely did.
1. The Thorn and the Blossom: A Two-Sided Love Story
The cover is stunning, and the story is just so well executed. I really loved the poetic vibe of the story. What's more interesting is how you're going to read it, because one side of the book is the woman's perspective, and then you flip to the back of the book to read the man's perspective. Unusual, yet interesting.
2. The Language of Flowers: A Miscellany
I bought this book only because I was in love with the color of the cover and only browsed a bit on the inside and didn't even have second thoughts of buying it. It was actually such an interesting read because you can learn so much more about how flowers are represented and the history behind it. There were several types of flowers shown in the book, it was colored, and just a really beautiful book throughout.
3. Secret Lives of Great Artists
This book was such a creative and interesting way to describe and let the readers know more of the artists. As an art person, it is better to know the history of each artist to really admire who they are and really understand the emotions that they put in their paintings; and this book does that really well. It's a quirky and creative biography of the artists. The book inside has drawings as well and is colored all throughout.
4. Art & Fear: Observations On The Perils (and Rewards) of Artmaking.
Can the title be any more obvious of what the book is about? It basically lets you know the general fears of being an artist and how hard it can be to climb that ladder of success if you strive into being one. But it's possible to be successful - and this book also tells you the rewards of gaining that success and confidence through your art. So, if you're an art student or just about anyone who loves making art and always doubt yourself, then this book is for you.
5. I Wrote This For You
This is an unusual poetry book because it doesn't say who the author is, but it's only written as "pleasefindthis" - because apparently, the person who wrote this to someone wants to let the person find it and realize that it is for her. I think it is such a nice concept because when reading it, you can feel that emotion, and it makes you think that you might be that person. It isn't just any other poetry book; it includes pictures with each and every poem, and every page just hits you hard with the emotions poured into this book.
6. Tales of the Peculiar
If you're into anything weird and unusual, then this book is for you. It contains several short stories regarding a history of the "Miss Peregrine's" trilogy books, providing a glimpse of the past of the peculiars. Even if you haven't read any of the trilogy books, one would still find this fascinating because of such themes as myths and legends.
