Books have a way of transporting us to places beyond our personal lives. Reading is addictive because of how easy it is to escape everyday life and experience a world outside of our own. Reading is one of the most beneficial aspects of my life, constantly inspiring me and strengthening my mind in such a rewarding way. Because of my love for this hobby, I am presenting a list of books that will ignite your love for reading while also awakening every emotion within you.

1. "I'll Give You The Sun" by Jandy Nelson

Jandy Nelson pulls from every angle imaginable in this book: family, friends, and strangers who turn into both. It follows the life of twin siblings and their journey of self-discovery, loss and healing. It is a story of love and growth in the purest sense, recommended for anyone needing inspiration about the good in the world.

2. "It's Kind Of A Funny Story" by Ned Vizzini

This ironic book follows the life of a boy struggling with anxiety and depression. It traces his battle towards acceptance and healing while introducing us to characters that break down stereotypes of Psychiatric patients and wards. It is a funny book about a sad topic, making for an emotional roller coaster of tears, laughs and the desire to know more.

3. "Lucy In The Sky" by Anonymous

The anonymity of this short book gives it an eerie realness that captures our attention from the beginning. Lucy in the Sky deals with teen issues of drug abuse, feeling so deeply invested that there is no way out. This book makes us realize that life is short and addiction is more than difficult to overcome.

4. "The Way I Used To Be" by Amber Smith

Sadly, this book represents a conventional high school experience for way too many girls. It is about keeping quiet, spinning lies, and fearing the outcome of admitting you were wronged. The dirty web of lies and self-destruction keep the reader hoping for the truth to come out. I think all high school aged girls should read this book just to educate themselves on the benefits of speaking up on behalf of yourself and your worth.

5. "All The Bright Places" by Jennifer Niven

Following the lives of Finch and Violet, this book presents us with a heart wrenching tale of love and loss. The uniqueness of this novel and the way that it goes beyond expectations makes for an ending that will take your breath away. Unexpected, beautifully written and filled with emotion. What more could we ask for?

6. "Milk and Honey" by Rupi Kaur

This is a collection of poetry and prose about different experiences and how they shape us. It reaches highs and lows, taking us on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, ultimately showing that there is always a way to come back from your experiences. It reminds us women that we are more than what we have come from; we are the future.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
