Summer brings about good times with friends, a disregard for going to bed at a normal time and, my favorite thing, Warped Tour! If you’re unfamiliar with what Warped Tour is, it’s a traveling tour with 60-plus bands. It goes all around the country and stops in a new city every day. Not only is it really fun, but it gives kids a chance to see some of their favorite bands and even discover new ones. This year’s lineup is killer. If you're going and you need some more bands to see, here are some to make sure you don’t miss.
1. The Word Alive
The Word Alive is a band from Arizona. They have four studio albums out and the newest album “Dark Matter” just came out in March. The band puts on a great live show and their lead singer Telle is an amazing vocalist. If you dig heavier music or are just curious, then this is a band that you should catch at Warped.
FFO: We Came As Romans, Blessthefall, Of Mice & Men
Listen To “Trapped."
2. Safe To Say
This is a band that maybe not that many people have heard of. If you have heard of them, then you’re awesome. But if you haven't, no worries -- you can catch their set at Warped. Safe To Say is a band from Canada and they have one album and a few EP’s out and have an album coming out in late July. They sound like some pretty legendary bands within the punk music world, but they have their own uniqueness and that’s why you should know who they are.
FFO: Brand New, Balance and Composure, Pentimento
Listen To “Zoey."
3. Tonight Alive
Coming to play Warped all the way from Australia is pretty crazy, and that is exactly what Tonight Alive is going to be doing. I had the opportunity to see Tonight Alive at a festival back in March, and after seeing them I was immediately hooked on their tunes. Their lead singer, Jenna McDougall, has major pipes and all the other elements of their music is what makes them so good. They just released an album called “Limitless,” and all the songs rock and have really great meanings behind them.
FFO: We Are The In Crowd, Set It Off, Mayday Parade
4. Mayday Parade
Mayday Parade are a pretty classic band at this point, and seeing them at Warped would be an awesome experience. Their sets are filled with epic sing-a-long moments to some of their most classic songs! If you like softer music mixed with pop-punk, then Mayday Parade is a band you need to see.
FFO: The Maine, All Time Low, We The Kings
5. Real Friends
One of my personal favorite bands that I’ve never had the chance to see live until this summer is Real Friends. Real Friends is a pop-punk band from Illinois. They have great music and their songs have great lyrics. They're also really nice people, and every time I see the lead singer in videos or pictures he has a giant smile on his face. They just put out a new album called “The Home Inside My Head” and every song is sick! Don't miss Real Friends.
FFO: The Wonder Years, Knuckle Puck,The Story So Far
Listen To “Colder Quicker."
6. New Found Glory
NFG is one of the veteran Warped Tour bands out this year, but just because they're kind of old doesn't mean they're not good! NFG is from Florida and they’ve been a band since the '90s. They have a lot of good music out and their songs are fun and make you want to jump around! Their bassist is this crazy dude with red hair and he rocks out on stage and adds to the New Found Glory experience! Make sure you see them -- this is the last tour before they go to record another album!
FFO: Yellowcard, Bayside, Motion City Soundtrack
Listen To “Vicious Love."
Have fun at Warped Tour, drink lots of water and rock on!
