50 Thoughts College Students Have On The First Day Of Class

With each new semester comes a first day of classes. Every student has these thoughts going through their first day of classes back at school:

  1. This is my semester. 4.0. It’s mine.
  2. Why did I decide to take such an early class?
  3. Do I dress nicely or laid back?
  4. Whatever. It doesn’t matter.
  5. Am I even walking to the right building?
  6. What am I supposed to learn in this class?
  7. God I hope today is just a syllabus day.
  8. This professor looks horrible.
  9. Are you actually going to lecture today? On the first day? Who hurt you?
  10. This semester is already sucking.
  11. CAN YOU PLEASE HURRY UP?
  12. I don’t want to be here.
  13. I want to go home.
  14. When is lunch?
  15. Do I get lunch?
  16. What is for lunch today?
  17. Do I really have to do this for another 4 months?
  18. What do you mean you’re assigning homework on the first day?
  19. What do you mean you’re giving us a test within a week?
  20. I should not have put a real bra on today.
  21. I could go for a nap.
  22. Is nap time still a thing? It should still be a thing.
  23. Please stop talking, teacher lady.
  24. Thank God it’s over.
  25. Now where am I supposed to go?
  26. What do you mean I have another class to go to after this?
  27. Whose idea was this whole school thing?
  28. Could I drop out and become a stripper?
  29. I need snacks.
  30. I need a dog.
  31. I miss my dog.
  32. I need dessert.
  33. What am I doing with my life?
  34. Am I supposed to like, get a real job after college?
  35. Do I have to pay taxes and stuff?
  36. Annnnddd Blackboard just assigned me 5+ assignments.
  37. What is sleep?
  38. Do I need sleep?
  39. Can the human body function for a week without sleep?
  40. What would Jesus do?
  41. That 4.0 isn't happening.
  42. I’m not going to make it for another 4 months.
  43. I’m not going back. They can’t make me.
  44. If I run away, there’s nothing they can do about it.
  45. Like seriously. What are they going to do?
  46. Do I have enough coffee?
  47. I need more coffee.
  48. I want to go to bed.
  49. I want to go home.
  50. I want to go back to Kindergarten.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
