I can't sleep without a sleeping mask, I own a special jacket designated for frat parties which I call a fratket, and I have a rainy day Spotify playlist. I admit it I'm extra. Embrace it, everyone needs an extra friend in their life. If you don't have that friend, it might be you.

1. Your friends know you have woken up from your nap when you tag them in Facebook posts

2. You have captioned a photo "eyebrows on point"

3. Everyone will know if you got a haircut via social media

4. Your friends hate taking pictures with you/of you because they know you'll make them take at least 30 photos until they get it right

5.You have an air mattress and 3 extra blankets in your dorm for guests

6. You love coffee, but if you don't you still pretend you do


7. You downloaded an app that tells you when the best time to post on Instagram is in order to get the most likes

8. You have a planner and a calendar, and you color-code both of them

9. You've already planned all of your future kids' names

10. You complain about being hungry after you just ate

11. You own the same items of clothing but in different colors

12. To you, shopping means trying on almost every item in the store

13.You wear a sleeping mask to bed

14. You do things just for the Instagram

15.You always take workout selfies, and almost always post them on social media

16. You're a frat groupie, and refuse to go to a party unless it is at your favorite frat house

17. You cannot leave your house/dorm room unless your makeup and hair is perfect

18. You always carry around a first-aid kit, tissues, wipes, hand sanitizer, lotion and just about everything you'll need, because you never know

19. You plan your entire outfit out the night before, only to pick out a completely new one the next morning

20. You are always too hot or too cold

21.You start brainstorming and shopping for Halloween costumes as soon as summer begins

22. Your fear of being late is compromised by your perfectionism

23. Amazon Prime was the best thing that has ever happened to you

24. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is the end of the world to you. You dramatize everything and are over it only minutes later

25. You can't post an Instagram picture unless it matches your theme

26. Your sunglasses never actually cover your eyes

27. You've mastered the art of waiting to reply to a text message

28. You've also mastered the art of waiting to view a certain someone's snap story

29. Even if it's drizzling, you'll carry an umbrella

30. You wear workout clothes daily to convince others you're athletic

31. You don't cook, but when you do everyone knows about it

32. If you like a song you will listen to that song and only that song for the next week until you get sick of it

33. You unfollow people on Instagram that don't follow you back right away to keep your ratio intact

34. You have a rainy day Spotify playlist

35. You give your waiters a hard time because of your specific requests

36. You own a pair of frat shoes

37. You hoard clothes yet complain about not having anything to wear. This cycle repeats

38. You have captioned a picture "no filter"

39. You social media stalk everyone you have ever talked to

40. If your friend has a crush, you'll text them every time you spot him

41. You track your friends' locations and will show up where they are without texting them

43. You own fake glasses

44. You have spent your entire paycheck on tailgating apparel

45. You can't be in a car, even if it's an Uber, if you don't have the aux

46. You've had the aux at a party and/or requested a song at a party

47. That one time you vaped...

49. You have bought every filter on VSCO cam

50. It's not your birthday if you're not wearing a crown

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
