YouTube is perhaps the best online video site ever. It’s not spammy with potentially dangerous ads. There’s literally tons of new content that is being uploaded every single minute (like, it would take you literally millions of years to watch every single video on YouTube; you’d never be able to do it in your lifetime). And the list of reasons why YouTube is the best goes on and on. I could sit here all day talking about it.
Now, everyone who watches YouTube has to have a favorite channel. It’s just common sense. So here are 5 YouTube channels that everyone should check out.
1. Geography Now
Geography Now, in my opinion, is the most underrated YouTube channel ever. Paul Barbato, affectionately known by the community of Geograpeeps as “Barby,” is attempting to create profile videos on every single UN recognized country in the world. As of writing this article, the most recent country video uploaded is Madagascar. These videos should be seen by everyone because we all need to learn about the world we live in.
I have literally never known YouTube without Game Theory. MatPat has been putting out theory videos since 2011. Even though his theories don’t always hold up, they’re still always well put together, enjoyable to watch, and chock full of a variety of information from science to math to culture to history to psychology. All in the name of over analyzing video games.
3. The Film Theorists
Film Theory has the same format as Game Theory. Hosted by MatPat, this series uses science, math, and a variety of other topics to over analyze movies and TV series. This channel, much like Game Theory, is definitely worth the subscribe. Between the two of them, you’ll learn so much and have fun doing it.
4. CinemaSins
You know all those inconsistencies in movies? The ones that have you sitting there like, “As if that could actually happen.” Well, this channel points out the inconsistencies in many of your favorite movies every Tuesday and Thursday. As their bio says, “No movie is without sin.”
5. Last Week Tonight
John Oliver is not exactly a YouTuber, but the main piece from his late show is uploaded onto YouTube every Monday right after the show. These pieces cover a variety of social justice topics from abortion rights to net neutrality to televangelism and more. It’s super important that everyone, no matter what their political orientation sees them to bring awareness to these issues that effect many important aspects of our every day life.
These are just five YouTube channels that are definitely worth checking out, though they’re not for everyone. There’s literally an endless amount of content on YouTube, so go explore and find the YouTubers that connect with your interests and personality
