The end of the year is approaching, how do you stop your habits of procrastinating and get your grades up?

Finals week is fast approaching, and I know I am struggling to keep myself together in these next few weeks. Professors are demanding a great amount in every class and everything is piling up. Here’s what I will be doing for the next two weeks, you should try it too.

1. Use the planner you got yourself but have never touched.

The root of my procrastination problem is that I never write anything down and then simply forget about assignments. I have begun to take initiative and write down all of the things I need to get down for the week and then take it one day at a time.

2. Take many, many, deep breaths.

Yes, this sounds cliche, but trust me it helps. Sometimes I need to take a breather and remember all of the things I need to get done and then start my work

3. Take some time for yourself.

You can only do so much homework a day, take some time to go to the gym and run out your frustrations or simply get dinner with a friend, but watch out, don't get sucked up in that Netflix show you just started.

4. Speaking of Netflix, social media is your worst procrastination nightmare.

First, you’re looking at something your friend tagged you in, and 38 minutes later you are five years deep in that girl from your 8 a.m's photos.

5. Ask for help.

If you know that you are a procrastinator, ask a friend to study with you and keep you accountable, unless they'll just show you memes during study time.

6. Listen to music.

Finding the perfect playlist can be difficult, I usually look for something that won't put me to sleep but also doesn't make me want to dance. Music helps me focus and block out all other distractions, especially if I'm studying in a public place.

7. Wake up early to get a good spot in the library.

We all have our favorite study spots, but sometimes they're taken by other struggling students. Environment can be one of the most important factors in having a productive study session.

8. SLEEP.

You're not doing to be able to focus if you're trying to keep your eyes open. (Try to) get a good night's sleep and then take on the day.

9. Eat (sort of healthy).

Brainfood! It's real! Yes, sometimes we just want pizza and chips while studying, but your body will thank you if you choose a salad instead, and lots of water!

10. Take it a little bit at a time.

Don't overload yourself and study for 10 hours straight. After a while your brain won't retain any more information and you deserve a break!

Keep your head up, you got this, and put your phone down :)

If you have been following me for a long time, then you know I write about two main things: relateable articles and communication media based articles. Now, it is time for me to combine the two. For those of you that don't know, I am a radio DJ at IUP, and I DJ for a show called BPM (Beats Per Minute). It is an EDM, or electronic dance music, based show and I absolutely love it.

Owning a pet can get difficult and expensive. Sometimes, their vet bills cost hundreds of dollars just for one visit. On top of that, pets also need food, a wee wee pad for a dog, a litter box with litter for a cat, toys, and treats. Besides having to spend hundreds of dollars on them, they provide a great companion and are almost always there when you need to talk to someone. For the past six years, I have been the proud owner of my purebred Bengal cat named Spock. Although he's only seven years and four months old, he's taught me so much. Here's a few of the things that he has taught me.

It's fun to see all of the selfies on social media, they are everywhere. I see pictures with pouty lips, duck lips and pucker lips. I see smokey eyes, huge fake lashes and nicely done nose jobs, boob jobs and butt lifts. Women working out in spandex, tiny tops and flip flops. I see tight abs and firm butts, manicured nails and toes, up dos and flowing hair. "Wow", I think to myself," I could apply tons of make-up, spend an hour on my hair, pose all day and not look like that. Maybe I need a longer stick!"
