5 Reasons Why Going Home Isn't All It's Cracked Up To Be

After a long adjustment of getting back into the groove of college, missing home is inevitable. While we all begin to grow homesick, it sometimes isn't all it's cracked up to be. Spending time with family and reconnect with old friends that you haven't seen in a month to 4 months is fun and exhilarating, but also sometimes annoying. College allows for growth and the chance to come into your own which basically means you are not the same person you were when you left. Sometimes going home just sucks.

1. It seems like a foreign place after being at school for so long.

You arrive home and walk in your room, only to see that your sister has taken over your room; this is probably one of the worst realizations of coming home. Not only has she taken over your bed, but she has also turned your closet into her own.

2. The family interrogations.

Don't get me wrong, I understand they want to know about how my life is going, at school but when they ask a question like "Have you gotten a boyfriend yet?" it kinda of gets annoying. Sorry but I don't need a significant other to be happy or make college more exciting. If I find a guy that I like, don't worry I'll tell you about him. You don't have to ask.

3. There's no structure to my day.

In college, you usually have a routine that you do every day or you have something that needs to get finished. At home, everything goes with the flow. You might have family functions some days, but other days you don't really know whats going on or what to do. Netflix and laying on the couch is relaxing at first but gets boring after a while. After being in college for a while, you become accustomed to always being busy and constantly getting work done.

4. You can't bring all of your friends home.

They make life exciting and you miss their presence. I'm sure you have all realized that the friends you make in college will most likely be your best friends for life. Some will turn out to be your bridesmaids and they are going to be the ones where you get pregnant at the same time so your kids can grow up together.

5. I'm not a kid anymore.

You've been gone for months and they want you to vacuum the whole house or even better they want you to clean the bathrooms. I really like it when my older sister steps in and tells me I can do hers since she's taken over mine for a month. Excuse me, but I have to clean my dorm room and do laundry at school. I have responsibilities at school too, it's not like I sit around all day and live in a pig sty.

Even though you may get frustrated with your family and miss school, remember that they do love you and want to spend time with you. So don't lock yourself in your room and play Xbox or watch Netflix all day. Go out into the living room and visit with your family. As you get older, you will see them less frequently so spend as much time with them as you can.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
