These days, I rarely go to the movies. It's expensive, and many of my friends just don't want to go. But some movies, I go out of my way to see.
Here are a few upcoming movies I'm especially excited to watch.
1. Kingsman: The Golden Circle
Release Date: September 22, 2017
When the first Kingsman movie came out in 2014, I was pumped to see it. Some people I have talked to thought the trailer made it seem like a better movie than it actually was, but in the end I enjoyed the movie, because it gave me what I wanted, a light-hearted, action packed bundle of entertainment. Now I know sequels usually are worse than the original. This movie could end up being awful. But after seeing the trailer, I am hopeful they can deliver again on what I’m looking for: a funny movie, with some cool action sequences.
2. Thor: Ragnarok
Release Date: November 3, 2017
This is the third installment in Marvel’s Thor franchise, but another installment in the overarching Avenger narrative. The movie picks up where the events of “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” leave off. Again this is one of those situations where they are probably just trying to exploit the franchise and make money. I don’t expect the plotline to be profound or complex. However, the Avenger story, which is now spread across like 20 different movies and is super tough to keep up with in my opinion, is actually very intriguing to me. This is probably because I am very emotionally invested after watching said 20 movies!
3. Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Release Date: December 15, 2017
This one is self-explanatory. Star Wars is pretty awesome, I’m not even that huge of a fan but I can’t deny that it is awesome. Must-see film.
4. Pitch Perfect 3
Release Date: December 22, 2017
This one is a guilty pleasure for me. I know that most guys don’t enjoy this franchise, and to be honest, I’m kind of surprised they are doing another one after the sequel. But I can’t lie, I love music, I really enjoyed the first two films, and I’m looking forward to this one as well.
5. Black Panther
Release Date: Feburary 18, 2018
I’ve been waiting for this one ever since I first saw the trailer, and unfortunately, I still have a few more months to wait. I think this has the potential to be one of the cooler superhero movies in recent memory. Marvel Studios rarely disappoints, and I don’t expect them to start now.
