5 Things You Know To Be True During Finals Season

Coffee, ice cream, and tears all in one.

5 Things You Know To Be True During Finals Season

1. Do you even have time to eat?

Every hour of your day is planned with something new: class until 12:00, study for calc exam until 1:00, group project at 3, class at 6…When will I ever have time to go to Chick-Fil-A?

2. Coffee is the new water.

At this point you know you should be going to bed early before the exam, and you’re probably kicking yourself for not preparing a few days earlier. You also know coffee is bad for you, but you drink an unhealthy amount anyway because sleep is for the weak.

3. The library is basically your new home.

Sitting at your desk in your dorm isn’t very efficient when you have candy in your drawer, your phone right at your fingertips, and your bed less than 10 feet away from you. It only takes a second to walk over to your bed and promise yourself you’re only going to sleep for 20 minutes…Only to find yourself red-eyed, confused, hungry, and even more tired 2 hours later.

4. Ice cream is comfort

The Tonight Dough, Half-Baked, or Talenti Caramel Crunch gelato that's twice as expensive? I mean you don't really need it, but it is comforting.

5. Making a billion different plans of what you're going to do the minute finals are over instead of studying.

Am I going home? I wonder what show I'm going to binge watch next on Netflix... I really do need to treat myself to more shopping. Those 30+ hours of sleep I'm about to get are looking real nice.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
