The whole "Men are from Mars; women are from Venus" saying has most definitely been around longer than any of us can remember. It seems that as we get older, communicating with the opposite sex just gets even harder. I can't tell you how many times I've had a guy look at me like I was actually psycho, but then again, maybe girls are just absolutely crazy altogether.
1. A lot of the time when we ask you to do something, we mean the opposite.
Let's say your girlfriend wanted you to "give her more attention," but when you were talking on the phone she told you that you didn't have to talk to her and could feel free to spend the night with your friends. This is just our passive aggressive way of testing to see if you'll actually do something for us that we want. We may say it totally doesn't bother us if you hang out with your "bros" but secretly we just want you all to ourselves.
2. We'll complain about everything under the sun, but when you offer to fix whatever it is we're complaining about, we want nothing to do with that.
My coffee is too hot. My coffee is too cold. There are too many commercials in this show. It's too cold outside. It's too hot and humid outside. My shoes are killing me (no, I don't want to change them). I hate doing my hair. These are just a few of many complaints that on any given day are likely to go through our heads. I know that I personally probably can't go even a few hours without finding a new thing to complain about.
3. Chances are if you've talked to us and we are interested in you, we have already stalked all of your social media outlets, your sister's, and probably your distant uncle too.
If there's one thing that most all girls are very talented at, it's our skill of being able to find someone on the internet that maybe we've only met in person once or twice. What happens after we find you? We'll most likely continue to stalk all of your close relatives, that one girl that's always in your pictures but she's your "best girlfriend," and all of your other friends as well.
4. We like to watch sad movies and drama-filled television shows, even if it makes us cry.
Whether we're curled up under a mountain of used tissues to wipe our tears away at whatever romantic comedy we've decided to drown ourselves in for the night or we're just having a movie night with the girls, the point is that we love sappy romance movies. Sure, it might make us cry and wonder why there aren't more Noah Calhouns and Jack Dawsons and Romeos in the world, but it really is all good fun.
5. We have absolutely no idea what we want.
We can ask for a hot chocolate, but when we get the hot chocolate we'll want a hot tea instead. We can buy a dress in one color, but then later seriously regret doing that color because the other maroon dress suddenly seems much more fitting than the bright pastel blue we just got. The point is, the secret to understanding the crazy nature of girls' minds is that in the end, we have no clue. We don't know where we want to eat, but we know where we don't want to eat. We have no clue what song we want to play in the car, and don't even try to ask us what we want to do for the day because chances are we have no clue about that either. Mainly we just like spending time with you, and in our eyes, it doesn't necessarily matter how we do that.
