5 Times I Wish My Mom Went To College With Me

One of the hardest things for me about being in college is being away from the people I love. This includes my little pup, my sisters, my dad and my mom. There are just certain things mothers can fix, that nobody else in the world can. Here are 5 examples of times I wish my mom could be at college with me.

1. After a long day of classes, and all I want is a hug.

There is nothing more healing than a mother’s hug. After hours spent on a project, or just feeling like the world is against me. Whatever is wrong in the world can be fixed for just a moment with my mom's hugs.

2. When I'm confused and need advice.

For some reason, my mom always has the right answers. She always knows what to do in any given situation. When faced with difficult decisions, all I want is my mom. No matter how big or small the decision might seem. From what matches with my boots, to how I email my teachers, I want my mom's advice.

3. When I have to wake up early.

There is nothing more comforting than a mother’s smile. In high school when it felt like I could never get out of bed, my mom would come into my room and somehow her presence made it easier. Whether it was her comforting nudge or heart-warming smile. she made early wakeup calls that much easier.

4. When something funny happens.

My mom is one of my best friends. There is nothing more frustrating than not being able to just run home and tell her a crazy story. Instead, it’s just waiting for her to pick up the phone and seems like the ringing lasts forever.

5.When I’m bored.

My mom can make anything entertaining, we can just sit and talk for hours on end. And when I’m sitting in my dorm room, alone and bored, all I want is my mom.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
