As I am close to finishing my first semester of college, I have gained a greater appreciation for my mom and the things I never thought about missing. Friends are great, but mom knows best.
1. When you get sick.
For the first time in my life, when my tummy or throat hurts, I can't run to my mom to fix it. Campbell’s Chicken Noodle soup just doesn't taste the same when it is not delivered on a tray in Mom’s bed.
2. When a boy breaks your heart.
Mom tells it like it is, but for that, I am grateful. There is no one better to convince you of your worth than the person who has known you the longest.
3. When you want good food.
“I love cafeteria food,” said no one ever. Mom knows I like my eggs scrambled, broccoli buttered, and just how I like my sweet-tea sweetened.
4. When you fail a test.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the comfort of my friends, but sometimes you need some tough love to get your act together.
5. When you need to make an appointment.
As small as this may seem, this is a major adjustment. For the first time since you were a child, you are in charge of doctors appointments, hair appointments, and everything else in between.
Take a second to text your mama, tell her you love her, and how thankful you are for her, it will make her day.
