Summer is finally here (or maybe it has been for a while), and it's finally time to figure out what you're doing this time around. Maybe you have some fun trips set out for the summer, or you've got some work to do. Maybe you've even decided to take some summer courses. Some people haven't quite decided what their summer is going to consist of yet. Here are a few thing I could suggest trying out.
1. Take a summer job.
Summer jobs are a great way to help out businesses that need more help during the summer, and a great way for you to earn some money for the things you're planning on getting or saving for. These jobs could range from mowing people's lawns to working at a local restaurant, or even taking up a short job at a place like Kroger. Anywhere works, and any sort of income will help you reach your goals.
2. Do some remodeling.
In this case, I'm referring to at home. You could end up in a situation where the house was trashed over the summer and you've gotta help fix it back up. It's your perfect chance to remodel the place. Don't have any money to do it full out? You don't have to! Remodeling can come down to rearranging things to your liking. Don't know what you like? Learn some things about feng shui and let that guide you. It's a super fun summer project to take up.
3. Start a summer project.
You can keep yourself occupied by doing something that you like for someone else. This can range from writing to pottery or even to yard work. For example, I'm doing a project with my dad, where I'll be arranging music to put into one of his community games. It's something fun to pass the time, and someone will be benefiting from your hard work. Isn't that a great feeling?
4. Host a party.
...and I don't necessarily mean a wild college rugby house party. You could invite friends over for a grill out, if you know how to work the grill. Or if you have a pool, that'd be a perfect hang out spot for your crew. It could be a wild off-the-chain party if you have your own place and don't still live the summer with your parents. The summer needs to be all about retaining a social life, so you don't go bonkers with cabin fever by the time move-in day comes back around.
5. Learn a new skill.
New skills will always be important for many reasons. It increases your versatility which will be very important when you hit the real world on your own. You could learn things like public speaking, or how to cook, how to properly do laundry, or even how to play an instrument. The possibilities on this one are endless and plentiful.
Whatever you may decide to do, just go out there and make your summer memorable!
