What would the world be like if we all had our 50-year-old wisdom throughout the years of our teenage lives? Would there be a lot less pregnancy, fake friendships, and dumb decisions made? If I were to travel back in time to my hormone filled teenage years, this is what I would say to myself:

1. It's okay to be a little different than everyone else.

During these years, you probably were so focused on looking just like the models in magazines or the girl sitting in the front of the classroom. But why would you want to be a copy of someone you probably don't like? Strut your stuff girl!

2. Save your money!

When you get older, you will think about every dollar you ever wasted on random crap or even on another person (who you probably aren't friends/ boyfriend/ girlfriend with anymore).

3. Take as many chances as you can get to have fun!

When you get old, like me (FYI: I'm 19), then you will regret every missed opportunity that you could have had to be a young, free and careless spirit! Live your best life go to the movies, water park, and all the sleepovers you can.

4. Find your passion.

If you love to play the banjo, then play the banjo with all of your heart, mind, and soul. If you love knitting and crocheting, then turn it into your side hustle. Find what makes you happy (and even could help you deal with your stress) and excel in whatever it is you are doing!

5. Spend time with your parents.

When you get to college or even move out for the first time on your own, you won't get as much time to spend with them. Life happens and birthdays roll around. Before you know it you all are 10 years older and start wondering where all the time went.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
