5 Things We Hate Most About Finals

The worst week of the semester.

5 Things We Hate Most About Finals

With the pressure of last minute assignments, tests, and trying to turn your D- into an A in 10 days, every student knows how terrible finals week is. Although, I'm sure there's a million reasons to hate this dreadful week, here's 5 of them.

1. The pressure of most finals being worth a big majority of your grade.

Even if you've turned in all of your assignments, studied hard all semester, and have had perfect attendance, which means if you fail that final your A drops to a C in the matter of one day...

2. Procrastination

We all know it's inevitable to wait until the last minute to study and get your assignments done. But when you have work for each of your 5 classes, the procrastination and pressure can get to an all time high.

3. Not having enough time

Even though you've had the first day of class and the syllabus clearly outlined when your final would be, you're probably a victim of #2 on this list. However, sometimes even when you try to be an effective worker and get ahead in your studying the amount of last assignments, papers, presentations, and projects that are due right before you take the final can take away from your valuable studying time! Which means you're only left with the last couple of your days before your test to cram in as much as you can.

4. Losing out on sleep

With all of that studying and papers to write, there's going to be a lot of all nighters and late night study sessions in store for you this week. But of course when we ask any teacher for advice on a test one of the first things they tell you is to "get a good night's sleep". We all know the only sleep your getting is the power naps right before your classes.

5. No social life

You can say goodbye to your friends and any sight of outside of the library for about a week and hello to your new best friend- your computer. For the most part, everyone checks out the last week of classes which means you feel like you're on break, but you're still stuck for another week of tests! This only makes the studying process that much harder.

We've all been through these things while preparing for our finals. Hang in there and pull through because you did not do all of this work for the past semester for nothing!!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
