5 Things To Wear This Fall

The weather is starting to cool down and the smell of crisp air scented with the warmth of hot chocolate and cozy fireplaces is beginning to trickle into the atmosphere. What I love about fall is that it’s the time of the year where you get to put aside your tank tops and bathing suits and get all cozied up in warm oversized sweaters and long sweatpants. In my book there are at least 5 things that every girl should have in her closet for when fall comes around.

1) A black blazer.

This is a must. Not only is a black blazer honestly good for any season, but you can dress it up or dress it down. And when it comes to fall you can practically throw it on and hit up any coffee shop in style. It’s a very versatile article of clothing, which I am all about. It can give you a classy look but with an artsy edge as well. In this picture, I paired it with my SECOND thing you need for fall: a long sleeved white button down shirt. I am also wearing ripped jeans from the boutique Bless Your Heart. The juxtaposition of the ripped jeans with the classy top is a cool fall trend that I have been noticing this season and is something easy and quick to put together.

2) Long sleeved white button down.

I’m sure you could guess that this one was next on the list. A simple long sleeved white button down shirt is good to wear to anything and with anything. You can wear it with jeans, shorts, skirts, leggings, the list goes on and on. I always love tucking it half in half out. It gives you a very comfy “I just threw it on” vibe. It’s very fall!

3) An oversized sweater.

To get the outfit that epitomizes the fall style, you need to have an oversized sweater. These are easy to find. Always look for something bigger than what you would normally wear. You want to be able to cuddle up in it and never feel constricted by tight design imprinting shirts. I like how this sweater has a turtleneck because it keeps my neck warm and looks like I’m always ready for fall and soon winter! I’ve worn this before with shorts and pants. This is again another thing in your closet that you can dress up and dress down according to where you are going and your mood for the day!

4) High knee black boots.

This is a trend that has exploded across the fashion world. Models and actresses all have a pair of high knee black boots in their closet, because at this point it’s a fall must. I didn’t get mine from Gucci but from Target (I love how I can use both those stores in the same sentence). And what’s great about these boots, as you can see in the photo, you can wear them with many different outfits. I always feel like the plain white shirt with black boots is very sophisticated with a youthful kick to it, which you can even strengthen by adding a black choker, another accent to your outfit. Try different outfits with your boots. Go for a crazy artsy look, a classy style, or both!

5) A sweater of course.

Anthropologie is the heaven of sweaters. The most important thing to consider when buying a sweater for yourself is, “Is it soft?”. You don’t want to have one of those itchy sweaters because you will never be that comfortable model in that magazine laughing on her couch holding a warm cup of coffee. Buy something that is so soft! Design wise, I usually tend to go for light pastel colors (because they go well with anything) but for this time I wanted a heavenly soft sweater with bright colors! Anthropologie has great taste when it comes to funky styles! This is a fun sweater to wear, and not only does it keep you warm but looks cute! I’m also wearing a headband to reiterate that causal look I’m going for. Also, red lipstick is a great pop with all the yellow and white.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
