5 Things To Look Forward To Come Springtime

5 of the many reasons we need spring in our lives right about now.

1. The weather is warmer:

You finally get to ditch the winter coat. I’m not sure about you, but wearing a big heavy coat is DEFINITELY one of the most annoying things ever. Honestly, wearing a jacket is pretty pointless too because most of the time I’m still cold anyway. When spring, our savior, comes, wearing a coat is optional most of the time. Plus, if you do decide to wear one, it might actually be able to do its job and keep you warm… now that’s a crazy idea.

2. You get to enjoy being outside:

To piggyback on the warm weather thing, going outside in the springtime is way better than going out in the freezing cold. Even if you don’t mind the cold, the spring has a little bit for everyone: the mornings and nights are still cold, but during the day, the world thaws just a little bit, and OMG, is that the sun???

Doing activities outside is no longer unbearable because again, you don’t have that giant winter coat to carry around, and maybe you can actually feel your fingers and toes. Another thing to consider is that you never know how much you miss flowers until they’re they finally start to bloom again. Oh, how I missed bright colors.

3. There is so much more to do:

Once the weather starts to warm up, it is honestly a challenge to be bored. You can exercise outside or, if you aren’t an exercise person, you can go on walks or lay in the sun. Now, you aren’t forced to stay inside because actually going outside to do things will no longer give you frostbite.

4. Everyone is happier:

Speaking from firsthand experience, season depression is a thing… like really a thing. Everyone is just in a better mood when the sun is shining. The need to take 300 naps a day decreases and you can just enjoy life. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that it is so much easier to be a nicer person when there isn’t a chill running through your bones.

5. School is almost over:

I think we can all agree that this deserves to be here. With the first sign of sunlight and warm weather also comes the first signs of senioritis, regardless of how old you are. Spring weekend is coming, people are making summer plans, finals are on the horizon. Springtime is basically just a pregame for summer. Even though it might be hard to stay focused, spring is the light at the end of the tunnel, and I think it is safe to say that we could all use some light after months of darkness.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
